I also think that for a vision it doesn't look very detached from the reality. I can't see anything that could not fit to a production car

The side mirrors jump out instantly as pretty on the concept, but totally useless in reality and they're not even legal.

It's a really stunning coupe that has those typical classic BMW coupe proportions.

Their latest post seems to hint that right now producing this car is not the plan. But given the fact the Skytop ended up being produced, can’t see how the same would not apply to the Vision Alpina.

It certainly is outstanding on every level.

After taking it all in, it's a stunning car for sure. That said, the interior doesn't fit and the rear end is the weakest part to me. The taillights are just weird looking. I'll be curious to see what is changed for production. Hopefully this will force Mercedes to build a big coupe/cabrio again and this time as a Maybach of course. Something more bespoke.

It should and probably will force Mercedes-Benz to realise potential value in its Maybach brand to offer more than beautifully trimmed variant of an existing model.

It was not the plan but things change. I once again point to the successful introduction of the Z07 Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show in '97:

Wasn't meant for production at all.
BMW calls the Vision BMW Alpina a 1 of 1 concept right now, but maybe not next year. The reception is simply exceptional and BMW did take notice.

Let's repeat what happened 30 years ago 🙏🙏

Things like the central bulge at the rear are design strokes of genius that make you stand out from the crowd when they manage to look so good in that essential part of the car.

I agree that this could be the push Maybach needed to gain the confidence to put fully bespoke cars into production, without forgetting that the big business is still the "trim" format (cost/benefit).

The competition has opened up, and for enthusiasts, only good things can come of it.

It was around or after Goodwood when they announced production for Skytop.
I expect this car will also be taken to Goodwood.
As it is certainly an interesting landscape to judge further reaction.

Marketing value for Vision Alpina is highly lucrative. If Green-lighted for production? It’s a starting point for Alpina (Under BMW) to elevate the brand with potential for further exclusivity with potential bespoke variants. You could easily see this car not just as a GT but a Cabrio and a four door Coupe.

If Vision Alpina becomes a reality?
Then you effectively have BMW leapfrogging its competitors in luxury branding and product.

The central bulge is consideration of another additional variant. It could display the rear braking light effectively. it could also flow through the roof panel cover and waterfall into the rear central console.

Damn… Did not know this existed. Guess you learn something new everyday.

But yep, this is how you want to start a sub-brand. Launching a car that is at its heart a Conti GT competitor makes much more sense than a fugly rihno like the XM.

And if this is the level of sophistication we can expect, then the B7 should be quite there as well.

Exciting times ahead for BMW fans.
