I am really curious where Alpina should be positioned.

ALPINA should be positioned between RR Ghost & 7 Series level. Something $180k-$300k at most, Because it musn’t compete with Rolls-Royce remember?

But these rappers indirectly boost the sales/fame of these cars. Remember how Kanye & all the rappers in the early 2000s boosted the G-wagon’s fame? it was the new “Cool” at the time & that kept up until today, The G is still COOL.

For the owners it’s a mixed bag, I am getting much more attention than expected.

Especially the Maybach gets way too much attention.

May be I should buy something very humble like a X1 or GLA which would collect dust all the time, because I wouldn’t like to drive it.

As an Owner I can say not much, may be the electric side steps which they copied from Cadillac.

IMHO Alpina was always sportier than Maybach or even Bentley, they should combine Rolls Royce materials with sportier design and driving experience.

Yes it does. The hardware is completely different. The rear dampers are softer.

The Maybach is about 200kg heavier than the normal GLS580, with less seats.

2.8t instead of about 2.6t.

That’s why they had to do it.

I agree.

People who say the GLS Maybach is not an innovation bother me. Because the only SUVs that can ‘maybe’ deviate AURA from
that type of car are the Cullinan & Urus only, NOTHING else.

I guess the problem is the wording.

Under the wording Innovation most people expect something completely new.

The Maybach wasn’t the first luxury SUV, that title goes to the Bentayga, as such it was very innovative.

Unfortunately there’s nothing comparable with the GLS Maybach and this upcoming Alpina model. They’re just talking bunch of nonsense. Gotta insert the damn Mercedes some way or another.

I always hope for no leaks, as the leaks of any car never give them justice and world rather see it the way the manufacturer intended.
