BMW tops Mercedes and Audi in 2010 passenger car sales

@ Tarek: Irrelevant? Maybe that 686 number goes on AMGs and i'm sure they've sold more than that, so yes, they're relevant for MB and S, at least vs. BMW and 7 series in 2010 global sales. ;)

@TA: i would like to see link to that info, E65 beating W220 in global sales.

Yes, the largest growth is something to

.

:t-cheers:

I searched but could not find something so far back..maybe some other member can help..
but i know its been done before..

I even expect the F01 to take the W221 in the last year of its production..
But that's hardly something to cheer about..

Yeah u maybe right..btw we forgot to mention that the 7er is cheaper than the S..maybe that's a reason of the close up in sales?;):D
I know you're probably joking but just in case (;)) these cars are basically never sold with only standard equipment, so the price difference is irrelevant as you can easily add options worth a small car on top of the list price.

Yes, but all numbers together and again top place in premium segment against your biggest rivals, several years in a row now is something to cheer about for me and that's the only thing i'm happy for.

^Ofcourse..BMW has done good.. they capitalized on the fall of Daimler..
and are running with it..

Kudos

And you honestly think the buyers are going through every single difference in the options packages and make their choice based on a small difference in price? :D When you're ready to put this much money into a car and load it with options, the price isn't exactly a priority in your list of deciding factors. The price difference between 7er and S-Class is relatively small in most markets so I'm ready to bet it's almost irrelevant in most buyers' eyes. They get the car they want, not the one that is a bit cheaper. Like they say: if you have to ask the price, you probably can't afford it. ;)

That is relatively true but i literally know some guys who aren't die hard fans of any brands just luxury shoppers who have switched from model to another based on the difference of loaded options prices.

Price isn't a factor in sales between the 7 and the S. Sure BMW has the 740i now, but Mercedes has more variants of the S up top so it pretty much cancels out IMO. Most aren't buying the 740i at BMW and most aren't buying S63s or S600s at Mercedes, the meat is at the 750i/Li - S550 level at least in the U.S.

Only the Lexus LS is really cheaper on the bottom line.

You seldom see a 760Li,but S600's are definitely much more popular let alone S65's.:usa7uh:

True and that was all BMW's fault. The image isn't there like Mercedes' is and for years the V12 just wasn't worth the premium over the V8 7-Series. The 1995-2001 7-Series in particular was guilty of that.
