It is not such a great looking car afterall. Looks like any square car of those times. It has lost appeal now, as it is hard to see any relationship between this and the array of M cuvs, which are all the craze now.

Not only did it stand out among all the "square cars" of the time (this and the e30 in general), but as good wine over the years is getting better,

I do agree that the E30 now looks better than in the early 90s. It looks so classy, but back in the time I remember that it looked like a fossil next to a Celica for example.
