Nice numbers..

I just have to point this out..the W221 in its last year ( which is really an extra over due year) outsold the 7er and probably any other car in the segment during 2012..:D

S Class: 65.128
7er: 59.184
A8: ?

... Now I'll go post my d**k in the S-Class thread!
Eye for an eye!

PS: The ass-class is selling in big volumes, you know :D

Looking at the sales for Z4 I now understand why there won't be a M-version.
I don't understand why BMW have problems selling many roadsters. Previous Z4 didn't sell well either. The new Z4 is a beautiful car and comes with a hardtop so what is the problem?

There is no wonder why BMW are focusing on X cars more than Sporty cars.

The numbers speak loudly the X cars sell very well for BMW..

Go figure..

A sign of the economic times? A roadster really is a weekend vehicle, and fewer people are in a position to or willing to fork out the money for such a discretionary luxury. Thats just my quick oppinion.

The roadster market here in Australia has also tanked, and neither the Z4 nor SLK are setting the sales charts on fire.

Can we get a break-up of M models too? How many M5, M6 and M3s were sold?

That market segment is just dead, if you aren't the Boxster. The new SLK doesn't sell that great here either. Market segment is over with, done it seems.

^Not if you are Porsche and sell caymans and boxters;)

I would say its down to the fact that the current SLK is a pretty weak car in terms of design..its bland..

The BMW on the other hand i cant see the issue with..its very attractive.. but maybe its only us on the forum that thinks so??

I'm telling you it is the market, at least in the U.S.

YTD 2013

Audi TT - 274
MB SLK - 681
BMW Z4 - 308
Boxster - 783

Its a very tiny market. Boxster and SLK are leading because they are the newest, but consider this the SL has outsold both the Boxster and the SLK at 825 units YTD. Seems only the very rich want roadsters The smaller roadsters market, where folks aren't so rich, seems to have shrunken dramatically.

^Ouch those numbers suck..US is not being kind to the small roadsters..

This means that BMW sold around 15K Z4s all OUTSIDE the US..

;) F20 (o'l face) is doing SUPERB!(y)

Seems only the very rich want roadsters, regular working people where the smaller roadsters reside just aren't that popular anymore, IMO.

And IMO new "niche's" e.g BMW 2er & variants, Audi A3 cabrio, M-B CLA (AMG) could/might just spell disaster for the roadster segment of the same brands. Seems if your not Porsche....As I posted a new thread, Boxter is SA's car of the year

A Z4 today costs almost twice what a Z3 cost when it was introduced. Z3 was cheap fun roadster, a toy people could afford to splurge in. Z4 is no longer that, it is a luxury now. So yea, no wonder it is not selling.

Or, let me just put it another way: the gap between 7er and S is virtually non existent now, where it used to be huge. Like I said, this coming generation the 7er will overtake the S class, and BMW will sell more cars in every important (non tiny roadster :D) class

Back On Topic.... Mini is not doing well......at all......

^hah 6K cars is non existent when the S class is a relic?

Watch the numbers for 2013 or 2014 and you will see more of a existent gap..mark my words:)
