BMW Group investing 14 million Euros into diesel development centre
Munich, Germany - The BMW Group has announced it will invest 14 million Euros in its diesel development centre in Steyr, with the focus on expanding vehicle measurement technology, functional testing areas and additional office space.
The centre is part of the company's largest engine plant and employs more than 400 engineers and technicians. Since the plant was founded in 1979, a total of 3.5 billion Euros has been invested in development and production.
Last year, more than 40 per cent of all new BMW cars sold worldwide were equipped with diesel engines, and in 2008, the company will introduce the engines to the U.S. market.
