Bmw desperately needs a sports car manufacturer. I think the best fit would be Aston martin.
You got everything figured it out. Impressive.
Lotus is an independent carmaker they just buying engines from toyota So is Aston Martin. Each contract can be terminated. The future will show what happened. From a prestige point of view yes, it matches Mini and Rolls Royce. However Aston Martin would need a true supercar like the 458/12, so a strict two seater. Let us not forget both Aston Martin with the Cygnet and the itent to get Lexus engines, so as Lotus, with the Toyota I4 and V6 is related to TOYOTA. Toyota has plans to build a car below the GT86, an MR2 successor which in some way could also be the next generation Elise, and Toyota also plans on building a new Supra, and as Aston Martin CEO once said, to look at new FI I6 engines, the new Supra and the new Vantage could also share chassis toghether. Then again Aston Martin would be a help for Lexus to build the next generation LFA at a more affordable price buy also selling a new generation Vanquish, and the same goes for the LF-LC and the next DB9. ATM BMW has no concrete plans for any performance cars, other than the standard ones, forget about Z2, Z6 and Z8.
