BMW Compactive Tourer - spy pics & info

Its the same car, minus the 19" rims but if you like them big we will have for you as an option.

It´s true is almost the same car, but the changes are the ones that make the difference. It´s not the rims, it´s the front, with less interesting grilles, headlights that soften the shape of the concept, which looked better, lower side profile softer, and less striking, rear glass angle is less dynamic, and less sporty, as with the F15 X5 vs the old E70, and the rearlights are bulkier and bigger.

I think it makes sense, since the other car was a concept, but this changes things a bit. I don´t think this car has a sportier stance than the B-Class, which looks less tall and longer.

Scott, it's clearly NOT the same car minus the wheels!

Pleat bare in mind that the car was shot from above so it distorts the view but the outline is exactly the same as the concept and bar from extra pedestrian protection it retains the exact design philosophy but without the fashion conceptual details. The interior is the same also , surfaces and a spatial feel but for production and daily use.

Will the interior feature the design of the future FWD 1er, or instead the current 1er design?

Interior design follows the design showcased in the Active Tourer Concept car - which is a sort more of an X-family layout with 1er/2er accents.

I'm looking forward to the 7 seat version. I think for what it is it's pretty attractive, I'll certainly take a good look next year.

It's a luxurious Honda Jazz. There's reason for the Jazz and there's reason for this. These pictures are poor shots, you need at least a good profile picture to tie things together.

2 series badge? On a FWD MPV? Really?

I hate this f$)&king breadvan, BMW. I'm supposed to moderate on this forum but I can't help myself. And to call it a 2 Series??? Oh, the indignation of it.

Yea dump ass move calling it a 2. They haven't even fully resurrected the '2' moniker yet, they are already sullying it. 2002tii is probably turning in it's grave.

So, if even numbers are for coupes e.g. 2-Series, X4, 4-Series, X6 then what classifies this car as a two series? Seriously?

I find it amazing how quickly BMW has taken a nose dive. I mean they have gone from their very pinnacle to crashing, burning, and letting the vultures pick away at the smelly remains in under 5 years. I'm not sure if I should be impressed or disgusted. I mean this is really the ultimate betrayal to BMW's loyal followers. Its a giant f*ckin middle finger to the same people that established BMW as what they are today (especially in the US).

Making things worse, this IS NOT like the situation at Porsche. Where we know that each of these BS mass market money grabs are directly supporting the enthusiast hardcore models. It's different at BMW. What BMW does is take the money they are make from these bullish!t models, buy the Quandts another beach house in the South of France, and then make their core enthusiast models even more orientated towards the lame-stream mass market consumer.

BMW likes to say that they are doing this so that they can stay independent. I beg the question, what good is staying independent if you have to compromise your core values to stay that way. The more BMW tries to reach this "magical" 2,000,000 sales/year number, the more I believe it would be better for us enthusiasts if some giant conglomerate swallowed BMW whole.

All I can say is thank God for the BMW's mandatory retirement age of 60. That means there is less than 3 more years of this BS then someone else helms the ship.

To a generation who has never been exposed to the 2-series moniker, this breadvan just killed the cachet of it's much more desirable sibling.

Perhaps the entire 1er line (3dr & 5dr hatch) will be upgraded into 2er line with the next Mk - making 1er designation free for a smaller city car (A1 rival). Since they can't go 0er with that car, can they? ;)

Would X1 also become an X2 with the next Mk? Making space for a smaller SAV - named X1?

So the 2er line (incl X2 SAV) might include "1er-based" cars (then all on UKL platform), while 1er line might be a line of sub-compact cars to rival Audi's A1/Q1 line. Yet Audi is going even lower than that: introducing "A0" - the VW Up! based car. Something BMW can't compete with - unless they got a partner to share a platform with (Toyota?) to put such car on (+ the mini MINI Rocketman as well).
