Oh, sadly BMW will never again make cars as great as these...

BMW had a concept like this  and now they are giving us the damn VED. :jpshakehe

It was not really a BMW, it was designed and build by Italdesign. Anyway Nazca c2 looked much better.

Oh and it had a Alpina-tuned V12 which produced around 350 horsepower and nearly 350 foot-pounds of torque - compared to VED's 360HP, 590lbft.

Wow, sweeet Thread!!

I had BMW's in my family for a large portion of my younger years, and somewhere along the way, they went cold to me [Bangle], and as such, even their heritage suffered in my eyes.... All of a sudden felt shallow and lacking in richness.

Looking at these pics, on a whim, clicks me back into my childhood where I lusted after so many of these cars (and rode in some regularly), and as well, just like that, restored that richness. Heritage is paramount to me, I can't even truly love my car unless I love its heritage.

We should have one of these for M-B, Audi, etc.

Then again the M1 was designed by Giugiaro and most of the development work was by carried out by Lamborghini. So as a concept I think the Nazca passes as a BMW. ;)

A new BMW V12, even a NA one, would probably produce much more than 360 hp, don't you think? ;) And you could ask: which engine is more suitable considering BMW's motorsport heritage and offers more driving pleasure, a V12 (or V8/V10) or a tiny 3-cylinder diesel with hybrid tech?

Yea a V12 would offer more pleasure and be way faster, but so was a horse driven carriages over the first IC cars. Every one derided, laughed and ridiculed them, but we all know how that ended. Yes, transitions are never easy, but keeping an open mind helps :).

If this is from Karl Lagerfeld, then it could use some better rims :D

For sale on eBay, my friends - less than 3000 miles, barely driven, garaged for all of its life and pampered in Europe specifically in a German private residence and recently imported...;)

The current bid on the car was US$130,500, but the reserve had not been met.

:t-cheers:

Instead of the bulbous, flat faces BMW is incorporating right now, they should go back to that outward lean, that'd be awesome. :D

BMW always had some of the hottest Coupes. IMO Coupes are the brand's historic forte.

Those good old classics. They had something the new don't have: simplicity. And M3 CSL is still my top favorite BMW ever.
