BMW Celebrates 25 Years of V12s with a Special Edition 760Li Priced at $159,695

In 1987, BMW took a big step towards being a real premium carmaker with the launch of its first ever V12-powered automobile, the 750iL E32, which was followed shortly after by the 850i that offered the first V12 engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox on a road car.
The 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 unit generated 295hp (300PS) at 5,200 rpm and a peak torque of 450Nm (330 lb·ft) at 4,100 rpm. Ever since, BMW has offered a V12 engine option on its flagship sedan series.
The Bavarian carmaker is now paying homage to the V12's 25th anniversary with the launch of a limited production version of the current 2013MY 760iL named “V-12 25 Years Edition”.
According to BMW, only 15 of these limited edition models will be offered to US customers on a special order basis only, for delivery in early 2013 at a price of $159,695 including destination and handling.
On the outside, all 15 cars are painted in the BMW Individual exterior finish of Citrine Black metallic and ride on bespoke, 20-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels.
Inside, the 25th Anniversary edition is fully trimmed in fine-grained Merino leather upholstery with black piping that's exclusive to this model. Furthermore, the black floor mats and rear footrests are complimented by contrasting piping in Champagne, while the door sills, headrests and iDrive controllers are all specially badged with “V-12 25 Years Edition”.
Other features include a rear seat entertainment with iDrive control, Alcantara headliner in champagne color, A/B/C pillars in black leather, BMW Individual Piano Black Wood trim for the dashboard, doors and steering wheel, a rear parcel shelf in Anthracite Alcantara and Shadowline exterior trim.
The 760iL "V-12 25 Years Edition" is powered by the same 6.0-liter Twin Turbo V12 found on the regular model. It boasts an output of 535 horsepower and peak torque of 550 lb-ft that good enough for a 0-60 mph (96km/h) in 4.5 seconds and a limited top speed of 130 mph (209km/h), which can be increased to 155 mph (250km/h) with the M Sport Package option.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if all of them are sold already as there are only 15 of them being produced. I can only hope my mother would trade in her '11 model for this, come December.

Why on earth does the 760Li have a top speed limited to 130 MPH without the M-Pack??? It makes no sense, its the flagship BMW?

Wait a minute. Your mother drive a BMW 760i? Cool :)

Yes, but it's actually a 760Li Individual, as the shorter length model hasn't been sold here for about 6 years. My mother just might be one of the biggest female BMW aficionados in the world, as she's always been obsessed with them since her father bought a 2800 sedan and from having an E21 3-series as her first car. She later got her first 7-series in 2000 as a present from my father when she turned 40, which was an '01 740iL Highline Sport. Pretty much since then she's been dead-set on only driving BMWs as personal cars and only rejected the pre-facelift E66 model.

There's a reason for that, as there is no Autobahn here and most owners do not find themselves driving at that speed on most U.S. roads. Even though it handles perfectly at even just 100 MPH, it's obviously just incentive to get people to go for the M-Sport as nothing really special in terms of handling even comes from it.

All have now been sold out, read more below.

2013 BMW 760Li V-12 25 Years Anniversary Edition Sells Out
Last Friday, BMW announced that it would build a limited-edition 760Li sedan, commemorating 25 years of the Bavarian automaker’s V-12 powered 7-Series. Only 15 examples were to be built, and now comes word from BMW that all are spoken for.

Selling for $159,695 each, the limited edition 760Li models come with BMW Individual champagne-colored Merino leather with black piping; V-12 25 Years Edition interior badging; a rear seat entertainment system with iDrive controller; an Alcantara headliner; black leather trimmed A/B/C pillars and piano black trim.

Outside, Anniversary Edition cars are distinguished by 20-inch BMW Individual wheels, mounted with performance tires and Shadowline exterior trim. Exterior color is up to the buyer, who can also choose to add as many options as his budget allows. All cars come with BMW’s 6.0-liter, Twin-Turbo V-12 engine, which is the entire purpose of this commemorative 7-Series. For 2013, the engine produces 535 horsepower and 550 pound feet of torque, which is good enough to launch the long-wheelbase sedan from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds.

While standard 760Li V-12 25th Anniversary Edition models are electronically limited to a top speed of 130 miles per hour, choosing the M Sport Package option gets buyers a bump in top speed to 155 mph. We’d tick off that particular option box, because a V-12 BMW 7-Series with a lower top speed than a Volkswagen GTI doesn’t make a lot of sense to us.

Don´t get why the E65 is not the LCI version, as every other BMW in the pics set.
I find that quite silly as well as I always hated it. That was truly the only 7-series my mother and myself always disliked. Every 7er from the E23 to F01, she's liked. After seeing how ugly the E65/66 was, for 3-4 years she waited for the facelifted E66 to show up before even replacing her '01 E38. I'm guessing it's a lapse in judgement, as the others clearly are all updated variants(E32 1992-1994) or possibly because the E65 facelift was lambasted for not looking distinctive enough.

Even better;)

The late model E32 in that spread looks gorgeous! It's almost as if I'm looking at a 7-series brochure from between 1992 and 1994, as it looks like it just rolled off the production line. I'm guessing it might be part of a collection owned by BMW.

Yes, the e32 and e38 belong to BMW Classic :)

Also, weird that e65 come with sport seats when the comfort one are standard and much better I think.

This 7er is my favorite of all time, well at least so far. The current one would be the runner up.
