Hot! BMW AG: What's Next

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't it the opposite with Audi? I mean, they startet with the S models 1st as a clear step up from the regular models. Then later came the RS models as an even more extreme variant. F.I. the S2 came around 1990, while the RS2 showed up 3+ years later. So, there was no watering down approach in case of Audi?
I didn't mean to blame Audi. It was a very successful marketing move by them. The S4 was killing the 335i and later the 340i. BMW had to react.

All good. (y)
You did not come up with this "watering down" nonsense. We all agree, that the performance class of Audi S/BMW M Performance/AMG 35/43/... models seems to be a sweet spot for many customers. So this segment had to be filled. Any talk about "watering down" is just hilarious and I just brought up the Audi case to proof, that it is hilarious, as there "watering down" was technically impossible as all the lesser models were up 1st.

Like this, except in blue with golden stripes. And with a V12 instead of a V8.

What a lovely car, for me this was peak 7er especially as a pre LCI together with a E38.
