Hot! BMW AG: What's Next

It was discovered for BMW that the Gran Coupe 6er was outselling the Coupe and Cabrio. A lesson learned with the 4er also. And guess what? The 8er Gran Coupe also outsells the Coupe and Cabrio.

We are seeing that with the Gran Coupe of the 4/i4.
The reason. Sports car owners of the executive class need greater flexibility. The Gran Coupe models and the i4 offer the appearance of their favourite coupe but with greater practicality.

This is why this segment is shrinking.
It’s the same against Audi’s A5 Coupe and Cabrio against the better selling Sportback.

How ironic.

The 6er F12 is even more toned down compared to its concept (vs the Z4 you complain about). Which goes to show your opinion regarding the Z4's 'weak headlights' is just that, a mere opinion.

If you remember the 6er concept of course, which you apparently don't. The production car suddenly becomes very weak indeed.
That's why I f#cking HATE these concept cars with a passion. They make every production car look like a cheap mass produced rental.
This report was for the American market.

It was clear they won’t bring it as the Z4 life cycle is nearing its end.

They should have put all the effort to bring the convertible in a concept near form when it had its 5 minutes.
Instead we’ve got that Toyota Yaris like headlights and shiny plastic deco.

It’s not the fact that it’s halfway through its lifecycle.

You are asking customers to hand over another triple figure 000 Euro plus especially after they probably have already been relieved of 750,000 Euro plus for the 30CSL.

The Z4 Coupe-Touring seems to be a less attractive proposition for the price to justify the one-off model.

Maybe if it was a Hommage to the M Coupe and being an M car the proposal may have been far more attractive.

Maybe they can replicate it with the next generation (which will already be in EV format), making the coupe accessible to all the masses.

If they were to repeat the CSL exercise with a Hommage using the body of the M2 rather than the M4 then yes. I always felt the M4 was far too sporty compared to the more upright classic appearance illustrated by the concepts. Maybe they might revisit the M2 based Turbo Hommage?

Your mother must have used it a lot. This must be the cause of your brain damage.
Be careful, don't be bold BOY.
Stop provoking by putting laughing emojis in all the posts, four in the last 5 minutes and without meaning, where I posted sources of relevant information, easy because there are rules here against that

Since the Z3 Coupe it was its niche, but I imgaine it wasn’t that profitable.

I don’t know the selling figures but I guess the E86 was a good selling car for that small like market. And that was a really candy design piece.

It seems to me that I read that there is something of that in process or as an idea with the Turbo Homagge

Many of Bangle’s nineties and 2000’s protégés are still with BMW Group Design. Including his lead protege…Adrian VanHooydunk.
His legend lives on but in a more subtler and modern form in todays cars.
He is a bit like a Vampire. Invite him in and in presence he will never leave.
Unlike other manufacturers where you have to keep them the f#ck out!

Speaking of Rome....an interview without waste about how the books were made and their interesting anecdotes and ways of a design department
