The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

BMW 530Le plug-in hybrid makes its debut in China

BMW 530Le plug-in hybrid makes its world debut at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. Built specifically for the fast growing Chinese automotive market, the 530Le is based on the long wheelbase 5 Series which is manufactured in China by the Brilliance-BMW joint venture.

Just like the BMW X5 eHybrid, the 530Le combine a four-cylinder IC engine (the familiar N20) and a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. Instead of the usual torque converter the 530Le inserts an electric motor.

The conventional engine produces 242 horsepower for an overall power output of around 272 horsepower.
BMW 530Le offers lowest fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 km and the lowest CO2 emissions, 49g/km, in its segment. In pure electric mode, the 530Le will have a range of 58km, and a top speed of 120km/hr.

Planned to officially hit the market early next year, the BMW 540Le plug-in hybrid is produced in Shenyang, Liaoning province.

The 530Le seems pretty impressive in fuel consumption and emissions, you can say its a 528i with hybrid technique. I wonder if they will launch a 530e in Germany/international markets?
