BMW 502: The baroque angel

I am looking for some info on the BMW 502. I don't mean technical data, since i have enough of them.

But does anyone know
1. the equipment of the (special) features this car had?
2. how did it stand up against the other cars of its segment?
3. if i can find any roadtest of this car?
4. if i can buy such a car?

thanks in advance!

Some useful info perhaps:

In 1958 the 502 2.6 was named 2.6, the 502 3.2 with 120 HP 3.2 and the
502 3.2 S with 140 HP 3.2 S. In 1961 the 2.6 was named 2600 and there was now
also a 2600L available. The 3200L and the 3200S received more power and new
rear lights. All models went out of production in 1964.

A unique car is the 3200 S Limousine. Only 1 was ever build, in 1963.
It can be found in the BMW museum in Munich, Germany:

I just did a search and came up with this one for sale:

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/bmw/502/300776.html

It may be expensive though being a dealer but at least they may be able to tell you about the equipment etc. I would try and hook up with someone in Germany's BMW Club who gets their newsletters. Usually those newsletters have old cars in their classifieds as well.

Well, the good news are that me and the guy i mentioned in my first post are looking for one in a good enough condition, but not very expensive. We plan to spent a lot of time to restore it. So we will have much fun and in the end we will have a great classic.

So if anyone knows where i can find one, please tell me!

Well, it had a V8, the MB 300 only had a 6-cylinder. ;)

Well I prefer the 502 coupe. And that was the worlds first production all Al. V8 car engine. The 503 goes even further with its Al. body and more contemporary body style, besides the Al. V8.

great page Christian. So much classics and many of them affordable.

But the real deal with a classic is all the fun you get when restoring it!

Yep, if you know the mechanicals that is. ;)

Mirbach is updated daily. So maybe one day you'll find your dream car. :t-cheers:

Wow great fun! I wish I had the expertise to restore one of these cars! And the money... For a while I was thinking of buying a Ford Caprice and then restoring it. :D :D

And here are the great news. In summer 2007 i'll be buying a true classic in order to restore it!!

And i hope i can afford a 502 at that time. I could start in the Cristmas vacation, but i need some money for other purposes, plus i want to have hours and hours of time to spend on it.

As for the mechanics, i'll restore it with a friend who is a mechanic. So, what is better than that?

I live in Houston, Texas and i bought a bmw 502 and looked all over for a technical manual but without any luck...does anyone have a technical book that i can use to repair my car?

appreciate your help,

I recently picked up a 1956 BMW 502 2 door convertible that has spent over 30 years in storage. I was wondering what this car is worth. It's tough finding information on this car. I'm looking to get this off my property to a serious collector to restore. Crank will not turn as the motor hasn't budged in probably 30 years.

Hello, Im new to the forum.
Didn't want to create another thread since I'm restoring a BMW 502.
So at the moment I'm looking for some parts, like brake rebuilt kit and most of wear parts.
Is there anyone supplying such parts?

thanks in advance
