5 Series BMW 5 Series GT (aka PAS) - spy pics & info

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.
Re: BMW F5 LuxurySportsCruiser - first spy pics!!!

The large RFK (aka LSC aka Progressive Activity Sedan) is coming in 2009 - so a year before F10 5er. And it will feature same engines as upcoming 5er.

Progressive Activity Sedan ...

Progressive:
new approach, new segment, unique design, new tech

Activity: quite enough space, great versatility, AWD (optional), great driving dynamics

Sedan:
it seems BMW are determined to market this vehicle as a sedan - pointing out the advatages of a sedan ie.: sedan-like driving dynamics & driving position, sedan-like cabin atmosphere, prestigious status of a sedan (vs. MPV) - although the car looks more like hatch / fastback / coupe. It's kind a same marketing travesty like "SAV" for SUV, or "4dr coupe" for coupeish sedan.

Re: BMW F5 LuxurySportsCruiser - first spy pics!!!

I love BMW and its design directions, but as for their acronyms? 'PAS'? Come on. No one in real life calls the X5 an 'SAV' instead of SUV, let alone 'Progressive Activity Sedan'..

Re: BMW F5 LuxurySportsCruiser - first spy pics!!!

Personally I'm waiting for the 2012 BMW "Peculiar Obscure Sedan" :D :

Peculiar: new approach to what we understand as automobile, very unique design

Obscure: Almost like a mixture of van, sedan, roadster and SUV only with 5 wheels, 3 windows and 8 seats.

Sedan: It has 4 doors so it's obviously a sedan

"Peculiar Obscure Sedan" or "POS" (for short) will be very dynamic with the "in-your-face look" according to Chris Bangle. :D

PS. This is not in any way intended to disrespect Eni, just humor about BMW's numerous abbreviations. :usa7uh: Your info is highly appreciated, keep it coming! :t-cheers:

Re: BMW F5 LuxurySportsCruiser - first spy pics!!!

Hey guys, I found this picture when browing through the F01 7er thread. Have a look at the car alongside the camoed 7er. It's the F5!!!

Something makes me wonder why the photographer only took photos of the 7er and didn't even bother to notice that right beside it was the new F5. I mean, it's sitting there without a single slice of camo, yet the photographer overlooked it.

Seems fishy to me!!

Re: BMW F5 LuxurySportsCruiser - first spy pics!!!

Woops!!

The sweeping roofline had me convinced it was the F5. :(

Ah well, where's a brown paper bag when you need.

BMW PAS Photos

A few days ago, BMW announced a new concept called Progressive Activity Sedan or PAS in short. Nobody really knows exactly what PAS will stand for, basically it's not a wagon, not a SUV nor a SAV.
In the mean time, some spy photos have been captured in Germany, showing an initial prototype. The car looks pretty strange in this shape but from my experience, these first set of photos are not usually the real thing.
BMW is known for heavily masking their prototypes and their secretes are usually guarded well. I'm sure in the next few months, we will have a better idea what PAS means.

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Well, its not my type of cars. So, I don't really care how its gonna look.

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Be honest, please...: Do you like that???

:t-cheers:

No.

Because H is wrong in some important details. Yes, some lines are correct, but overall I wouldn't put money on that CGI. :usa7uh:

It looks like a fat old lady.

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Believe me, i don't like a single line in that chop, regardless of how accurate it is...

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

This one is very different from the latest spy pics. The slope of the roof starts even before the B-column ,no roof 'balcony'...the roofline is almost X6 ish
Maybe this is not the PAS (F7), but the PAC (F6), if you know what I mean ...its obviously a coupe :eusa_doh:
Lets pray , Huckfeldt is wrong

Eni, how can you say some lines are wrong, others not, if you haven't seen it irl...I don't care too much,if the character line is spot on ...the overall shape is what counts...

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Here are some interior shots of the F6/7 I haven't seen before. It looks like it follows the X5's design direction. The Multifunktion steering wheel seems to have an additional switch ....The instruments seem to be 'classic'...If this is a derivate of the 7 series, I would expect some fancy TFT screens .. Overall it makes the impression of not too far from production ready..( my guess would be maybe early 2009)

I wonder, what all those sticky notes are on the steering wheel ? Maybe the shopping lists of the testdriver :D

Here is the original gallery with some addtional (old) pics
