The 3er Gran Turismo takes it's direction from this model , although simplified , made lower and smaller than the original intention which initially made it to the final three.

BMW see the 3er Gran Turismo as an entirely seperate model from the 5er Gran Turismo which means more emphasis will be on dynamics and performance rather than space and luxury. Although the 3er Gran Turismo will share the same philosophy as the 5er GT and not being recognised as a 3er in design. Again the bloodline will be there but the details will be different.

BMW have longed to do a shooting brake style concious car. And had the original RFK project had not morphed into the Gran Turismo. They would of had their wish. Although the lukewarm response to the Mercedes-Benz R-Klasse made them think again. By taking the original concept making it look sleeker but still offer a semi-command seating arrangement and shrinking the size to a more market friendly segment.

BMW see the 3er Gran Turismo as the alternative to alternatives. A style concious car with the dynamic prowness to match it's looks and fullfill it's desire to have a Shooting Brake in it's portfolio.

Having the 3er Gran Turismo shooting brake also allows BMW to offer another of it's niche concepts under the M Division. An M3 Touring was considered but axed at the last minute failed to be the first M3 load carrier although BMW did produce M3 Tourings on not only the latest E91 but locked away are E30,E36 and E46 prototypes. Although not green-lighted there are M Specification 3 GT sketches been requested.

Why didn't you show them with the E39 M5 Touring and the E34 Conv.?

because they were M5's brought out for the 25th anniversary of the M5.

No, the saddest part will be how the Fanboys will back up EVERYTHING that CM say. :t-banghea

That is not the saddest point, that would instead be that the 3-series is not big enough. There is simply no room to play with...

I hope you realise these drawings are roughly 2000 years old, and not related to modern BMW design in any way, right???[/quote from Klier]

And first post in this thread with reference to the model pictured, along with the statement that the 3er GT "takes it's direction from this model" from SCOTT27, relates to your statement above how Klier?

This should be good!

Well it's easy:
  • They are made by Huck, who sucks oh-so-much at doing Bimmers.
  • Scott wants us to know about this car, but not about the styling (other than in words).
  • Those designs are clearly based off this PAS prototype. That styling line clearly didn't make it (Thank God) Huck probably saw sketches of this thing here:

Oh if there is a will, there is a way. :D

Oh??? When did that happen???? Oh that's right, never.... :t-banghea

Dude, I don't have time to go back and find posts of BMW fanboys from this board. Just the fact that there were people who actually supported or claimed to have understood the bastardization of the ///M brand with introduction of SUVs...yeah, that speaks for itself.

If they're irrelevant, then why post them? Thats like posting a spypic of W220 for a W222 thread...what's the point?

Either way, whether they're relevant or not, they're still ugly as sin.

the saddest part is that people who dont like scott or cm actively look up the dedicated thread to show their disgust, ruining manu discussions when they could easily ignore them. and after that they startattacking "fanboys" in advance? seriously, this is getting anoying.

I hope you're not calling me out Rik. ;)

The 5GT backside looks like some other car crashed in... but this 3GT is even worse, hopefully BMW will chancel this mess!

And what the hell is this GT shit? Please BMW... learn and wait 10 or 20 years and try it again! Tip: Maserati There you can see, how a beautiful car should look like!

Where exactly have you seen the 3er GT photos to label it a mess? :t-hands:

Those photos that Scott attached in the opening thread were CGIs of the BMW RFK/Y-series..which we now know as the 5er GT. They are not 3er GT CGIs....but Scott may have posted them simply to showcase the 'shooting brake/liftback' rear end shape that the 3er GT may end up with as opposed to the bulky behind of the 5er GT. So what he's saying is, the 3er GT won't come across as being a bulky, fat-ass'ed wagon/people-mover/SUV mish-mash....but rather, it'll be sleeker and sportier to fit in with the sporty-image of the 3er range.

No reason to moan and groan about those terrible CGIs which as klier pointed out are rather out-dated now.

That's how I'm taking it anyway. :)

Bingo!!! ^^^^

Please, what a bunch of BS! So when someone understands why BMW makes the X5 M, you're automatically a fanboy believing everything Scott says???
Just.....wow at that way of thinking!
Bastardization of the M brand, is just NarutoRamen trying to fit in with the popular opinion of all the haters.. I am NOT taking part in this.

Actually, posting pics of W220 in a W222 thread is even more logical; you post a pic of the W220 to tell about the W222 to people who don't know what sort of car W222 will be.

The pics posted by Scott however, are very old skechtes of the RFK/Y-series/Progressive Activity Sedan, and have NOTHING to do with a possible future 3er GT. They're based on failed 5er GT designs.
