3 Series (E46) BMW 3er E46 Picture Thread

The BMW 3 Series (E46) is the fourth generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars manufactured by BMW. Produced from 1997 to 2006, it was the successor to the E36 3 Series, which ceased production in 2000. It was introduced in November 1997, and available in sedan, coupé, convertible, station wagon and hatchback body styles. The latter has been marketed as the 3 Series Compact.

At least no one was injured...

In the mean time I found a few other interesting pictures though.

It was for sale for about 20k Euro. IMO acceptable price for a one-off car with 400 bhp and V8.

There is not a "single" pic of the pre-FL sedan? I think that looks mighty good as well, i think its less roundy-ness more suits the side profile than the FL sedan.

Looking at these pics, i really would prefer having this interior over the E90's. it doesn't even look dated after some 12 years since it was introduced.

My favourite 3 series of them all. A joy to drive - suppleness and agility in the time before run-flats. An interior better than anything else in its class and even some above. The 330i’s exquisite M54 was the very definition of creamy smooth power delivery but it was the 330d that was the revelation in its day for me - a diesel that was actually good to drive. I drove both models a lot; the 330i (number plate NDH - “No Diesel Here”) and the 330d (plate NDT - “Nice Diesel, Tony”) were the two best cars I’d driven back then in the early noughties. Thankfully I was lucky enough to have friends who would just hand me the keys because sadly I never got round to owning one. Fortunate then to have had the experience.

The E46 was almost peak BMW. Great to drive, even the mere 316i was a descent enough option. A good friend had a 320Ci back in the day and another recently got an amazingly kept 325Ci cabrio!

A few days ago, when I was contemplating whether to fix the S60 or replace it, I had a look in the classifieds for a descent E46. They are now very hard to find in good condition or in anything else other than poverty spec.

A low-mileage E46 330i in good-to-great condition? Rarer than a Bugatti Chiron.
Anything with four doors, folding rear seats (important!) and an interior that doesn't look like a chicken coup, within a budget of 10.000€

I'd even settle for a LCI 316i if I could find a nice one, even if a proper E46 must have an I6.

The only interesting find was a nice 325iX touring, in green with beige leather, but at 225.000 km on the clock and requiring quite some work, at 17.500€, it didn't make sense.
