Today I drove them again
:
328i Luxury – 8-speed automatic gearbox
320d Modern - 8-speed automatic gearbox
First I want to say that on my way to the dealer I was following a black 1M. The car is brutal and looks more special than a M3. Simply is my favorite M car. God, I love it.
328i doesn’t feel like a 6 seconds car up to 100 km/h, the engine simply is effortless and pulls easy to the readline with no drama. I prefer the engine characteristic of 328i than 320d. With a diesel the gearbox change gear to many times and takes away the acceleration flow you find in 328i.
0-100 km/h 328i feels quicker but when driving 150km/h-200 km/h both cars feel almost equally fast. 320d never feels underpowered and going to be quick enough for most people but if you are into 0-100km/h then you want a 328i but real life driving both have enough power and 9 out of 10 times the diesel is enough.
Its windy in Sweden today but despite this both cars are stable when driving +150km/h.
The automatic gearbox is simply flawless.
I still think the steering is too light. I prefer the heaviness of previous 3-serie because when the steering become lighter it does take away some of the great steering feel.
Another experience during my drive with 328i, me and my 328i all alone with a Audi R8 on a small country road. I was hoping he wanted to race me but no , he just drove normal and had no race in mind. He was holding me back and my 245 strong horsepower bimmer. Not that I would keep up with him but it would be fun if he floored his R8. Trust me I would do my best to follow.
If I could decide, skip Comfort and just keep Sport and ECO mode. I would use Sportmode everytime since it sharpen the steering and gearbox to the better.
Still no cars with Sportline and Adaptive chassi at my dealer. Sportline is suppose to have sportchassi which I want to try out.
Going back to my car I love my M steering wheel, its fat and juicy. I think I also prefer engine characteristic of N/A engine than those new Turbo cars.
