The BMW and the VW looks best, in my opinion! Nevertheless the C-Class has also a very outstanding design - but I'm still not a great fan of the interior!

The VW has better driving dynamics then the BMW... not even going to bother laughing

but there are subcategories and BMW had best handling, best slalom and best traction but lost points in other subcategories to the VW, for instance brakes. VW had the best brakes in this gang. Totally the VW scored the best but wasnt the best in every subcategory.

Seeing the VW scoring more in driving dynamics almost made me close the webpage but after reading further more...well BMW got all other subcategories:D and why in hell they didn't test the avantgarde C-class it'd have scored better in driving dynamics:t-banghea :D

Excellent unbiased test from Auto Zeitung as usual! :usa7uh:

Are you being sarcastic? :D

I read this review sometime ago and I couldn't believe that they said the VW Passat "handles well". I mean most reviews about the Passat state that it's a solid handler, but nowhere near as involving or sharp as a BMW.

Are you sure Autozeitung published this review? This sounds more like an Autobild review given their preferences for Audi/VW products! :D

No Chris, it's Autozeitung.
And they never mentioned the Passat was a sharper or more involving drive than the 3-series.

Where did I see that? :t-crazy2:

Yeah, I know it's Autozeitung, I was joking about it being Autobild. ;)

I think the C-Class biggest weakness right now is the lack of new engines. The C220 CDI engine is literally an improved version of the W202 C220 CDI motor. All it got was a new common-rail system and counter-rotating-balance-shafts for improved smoothness and a handful of other modifications, minor ones. They really need to start offering a new diesel engine. Supposedly they're working on a 200-horsepower 2.0-l 4-cylinder CDI engine for the next '220 CDI' models.

Actually, there was a test in a local car magazine 1,5 years ago where they tested A4 Avant 1,8 T, 320i touring, Saab 9-3 SportCombi 2.0t, VW Passat Variant 2,0 FSI and Volvo V70 2,4. Passat won that test and was the only car to get full 10 in the road driving category. The steering has also been praised by other car mags here. According to them Passat isn't as sporty as 3er but still a very solid car. :usa7uh:

But Chris, check out the subcategories under the Driving dynamics title.

I think I took your word for it without checking. My bad. :t-cheers:
