BMW 1-series variants: Scott26 reports

if you explain me what CGI is, i'll answer your question

Thanks. It is amazing. He maybe receive a check from BMW every month or so... I don't know. But i like it :D

BTW, you said once in CSS that BMW uses CSS for advertisment or sth like that. what did you mean?

Btw, not just from BMW. :D

I'm 100% sure Huckfeldt is exposed to some sketches, pics of finished clay models, or in very early phase just told about design cues & features. Having a sense for impressions, CGI, and in combination with exceptional memory, he produces VERY interesting and very accurate CGIs.

Regarding BMW advertising in CSS I do not remember saying that. But I said I was 100% sure BMW officially monitored the CSS and even posted in it. :D

Officially? Come on n ow Tine. CSS is nothing more than a fansite. There might be BMW employees posting on that forum, but that is how far it goes.

What is it you mean with 'BMW posted in it'??

BMW do officially monitor forums & automotive news sites & blogs. I can confirm that. When working for a while in a marketing communications agency, my colleagues from PR services were doing that for our local BMW unit. Regarding how small our market is, I'm 110% sure other BMW units and a parent BMW AG are monitoring (themselves or outsourcing it) the internet (incl. forums & blogs) even more.

Also knowing EVERY big corporation has a "department of misinformation" / "counterintelligence service" / "guerilla unit", or whatever you want to call it. They "unofficially" create rumours, buzz, anticipation in genereal public - over the media incl. internet (forums, blogs, news sites).
It's not official PR, but their "underground" unit - working undercover, but with same objective: to launch BMW's message along.

And CSS being an established forum of future / potential new cars it's a perfect place to start the rumours about future BMWs.
Many times info from CSS is posted in other automotive forums / blogs / news sites. So ... sum 1 + 1. Debate = maximum publicity. Perfect marketing tool. Keeping brand awareness alive all the time. :usa7uh:

I'm really not going to comment on that.

Its the same for M5board.com. BMW is monitoring the page. BMW sends new info to Gustav and he can also borrow a M5 or M6 for carreviews. M5board.com is wellknown at BMW.

Enthusiasts are perfect warriors / tool for spreading the brand / product awareness, promoting it, or even trying to convert other people to enthusiasts. Thank you.

Btw, it's not BMW doing that. But for now their approach is the most "aggressive" one.

that's what i meant. Do you think they monitor us too?

Since some links from CSS lead to this board, I'm sure they do - or did.

Do not imagine they monitor all the specific sites daily, but they do "run through" periodicaly.

interesting...
BTW, do you think that dome CSS or GCF members are in reality BMW emplyees?
Maybe you are one of those ''bad'' guys :D

No, I'm not one of them.
Even if I were, I wouldn't confess. :D

Regarding CSS, GCF, E90post, bimmerfest, etc.: some info/rumours about BMW are there not because of "leaking" or "babbling internal sources", but by the reason BMW want to deliver them to us.

This week I'll try to find some interesting case studies about such guerilla marketing methods.

I meant like this: BMW has people working at PR (or something) browsing forum websites? Or are employees who browse forums in their own spare time? :usa7uh:
Imo, it would be very wise to have a small department handling internet message boards and things like that. They become more and more important for creating an opinion about a certain car/brand......

You answered that q already now, so nevermind :)

BMW AG communication dept. (or in some BMW unit cases: contracted communication service agencies) has spider programs browsing the net - through blogs, forums, news sites etc. The spider program collects the info within different categories. The people in charge check / read the info - if relevant BMW use them - for marketing or communication (re)action.

Internet is these days heavily used for guerilla marketing purpose: spreading rumours, news, good/bad words about something. BMW use this channel very effectively to push their opinion / message along.

Yes, I'm sure BMW employees are personally posting publicly around the net, but not company / product specific info - since spiders can found them & BMW can take an action against them. When some BMW employee is willing to tell something to a stranger or unauthorized person, the info is a pure rumour made up by him or by BMW misinfo dept - which also spreads rumours inside company via BMW intranet - or something that is already official.

So, don't be fooled that some people like you-know-who are "spies". :D

i think the best way to spread rumors is via the dealers. They mislead the salesmen from the headquarters. And then, they tell you what they think is classified info...

Here are some AutoBild spy pics (they look old)...

...I really find the “painted” doors funny!

OT: Deutcshe your signature is something my father has always told me.....Haha. reminded me of some things.

Glad you noticed. It's the truth.

^I think you mean 3 litre.

Actually Scott26 is wrong (not necesarily his fault falt) but the 1 will get the 3.0 litre turbo when it comes to the U.S. That was made official at the Hawaii BMW DAG meeting. Imagine a 300 hp 1 series....R32, prepare to get smoked...:D

actually just thought of another thing that was said in that meeting. The 1er will only come to the U.S. in coupe form (and maybe convertable) but not in a hatch, therefore not competing directly with the cooper.
