Reborn Italian supercar brand’s first bespoke creation uses a Cosworth-tuned, mid-mounted V12!

Reborn Italian marque Bizzarini has revealed the first images of its striking new Giotto supercar, a mid-engined V12 tribute act to one of its most legendary models.

Serving as the spiritual successor to the 5300 GT of 1964, the Giotto will begin road testing in 2024 as part of its development programme, led by Bizzarrini's chief technological officer, Chris Porritt.

Power comes from a rear-mid-mounted 6.6-litre V12 developed with Cosworth, which is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Bizzarrini said that while it has been engineered to meet all worldwide emissions regulations, this won't affect its engagement and drivability.

The engine's capacity, 6626cc, is the same as company founder Giotto Bizzarrini's date of birth, 6 June 1926.

Specific power figures have not yet been released.

The exterior design, meanwhile, melds several design cues from the 5300 GT and "reinterprets them for the modern era".

The dual vents in its bonnet and front bumper (shaped to make the badge as prominent as possible), wraparound rear window and triangular B-pillar all take influence from the 5300 GT.

There's also a dihedral front splitter, the design of which has been influenced by Formula 1, and a fixed, full-width rear wing for increased downforce on road and track.

Porritt said: "We have a clear vision for the Giotto, driven not by lap times or acceleration records but in the emotional engagement of both the driver and the passenger.”

Its development is said to have been backed by the expertise of the firm's senior team, with Porritt previously having acted as vice-president of engineering at Tesla and CEO Ian Fenton drawing from his time at Ford and Aston Martin.

Julian Jenkins, previously at BMW, will replace Fenton as CEO from 1 November, with Fenton stepping in to an advisory role."

Mama Mia!

But Cosworth are going to be VERY busy Gordon Murray Automotive etc.

Thanks Batman but where's the bloody FR 001?

When they say Cosworth tuned V12 is this someone’s else’s V12 or a bespoke V12 built by Cosworth for them? If it’s some one else they are tuning whose is it?

It's a great shame they couldn't fully unveil it while Mr. Bizzarrini was still alive. He died about 3 months ago.

I wonder if the engine is related to the 7.0L from Vulcan, given how there are so many former Aston Martin people on Bizzarrini team.
I can't find any pictures of that motor, but the render sure doesn't look like the usual M120 or a variation of Cosworth's current V12.

Although it doesn’t look so bad I have to ask the question: how many more of these supercars do we need?

Often, when there was a period of great ostentatious display of wealth (supercars, skyscrapers, etc.), it's followed by a significant global economic reaction. With this great many of supercars, hypercars, superhyper-whatever, there's a part of me thinking "oh, we are about to be proper-f***ed."

And this comes from a person who's loathed to go down conspiracy rabbitholes.

The classic Italian marques are making a major comeback in 2023 (De Tomaso and now Bizzarrini) and this is another masterpiece of a design and launching in 2024 with a 6,6ltr V12 Cosworth engine, wow they got balls.

F$ck the electric future, we going with massive ICE V12 engines!!!

No it's bespoke so I assume therefore unique to this car. But Cosworth themselves have stated that elsewhere, and they should know it's apparently got a unique bore and stroke so therefore cubic capacity. But, well proof is needed not a press release.

There doesn't seem to be many details about this 6.6 V12 been displayed on the web, I wonder if it will also be a high revving 10K RPM engine like in the Valkyrie and T50. If so then it could be a 900 to 950PS engine, which would mean devastating performance.

Any word on engine output?

Fastest laps has it down at 1000bhp/848lbft.

Any word on engine output?

No not yet. They've said later. Looking at Aston Martin Valkyrie engine rebuilds I don't think it needs that complexity so I'd gesture 875hp as a median figure for an early estimation. They can ofcourse prove me wrong either way!
