Cornering Kingpin

Of course there is about a dozen more SUV (X3, ML etc.), but I wanted to narrow it down to one SUV per brand.

This is such a HUGE segment. Please vote for the one that interest you most.

Also intead of just voting and leaving, please give a detail reason why you picked the vehicle and what advantage it has over the rest. Of course this is an opinion thread so please don't take anthing seriously.

Please give:

Reason -
Runner Up-
Reason for not picking other models

Reason: The GL550 is the SUV that I can actually see myself driving. The others are excellent choice, but the GL has my name written all over it/ I simply love the way it looks.

Runner up: The Range Rover is beautiful and it’s breathtaking. This would be a closer runner up

Reason for not picking other models: The other were well design especially the Lincoln, Cadillac and Porsche. Just had to make a decision.

I'm torn between the GL and the Q7; I've liked the GL from the beginning, the Q7 I've only recently learned to appreciate... those would be my top two anyway, followed by the Range Rover, Touareg and XC90. :eusa_thin

GL all the way..its just so nice..with its new big grill..and sporty rimms..
it looks amazing..
plus it can actually go offroad if you need it to:D

The runner up for me is the Range Rover.. i just love its size.. just like the GL..plus that it can actually go offroad like the GL.. plus it looks good like the GL..
but not as good.. and plus its not a benz.. haha.. so thats why its a runner up..

Why i didnt chose any of the others?

X5- looks like a FL not a new car.. the design to me is allready 7years old
but its still a handsome suv

Cayenne- i like this FL cayenne.. but still it is ugly in a way.. and i dont really like the porsche SUV concept..allthough it is a huge sucess...

Q7- its not a SUV its a bus

Acura- i dont even know what this is?..i dont think i can find a dealer to
service that thing for me in sweden.. plus it doesent look gr8:D

T-Reg- i love this car.. but its old now

Lincoln, Caddy and infinity.. we dont have many of these here.. so its a problem to own them.. there might be like 1 dealer in whole of sweden
plus they look to american..or to bad..

Volvo- Old like the T-reg

Lexus- this suv is just sad.. just freakin sad.. makes me upset

--------
So there u have it..thats my verdict:D

The Q7 for me...can't see myself in a GL, I hate the styling. Next two in order of preference are the LX and the X5.

I consider ML to be a competitor to X5, not GL. GL wont get my vote, thars for sure.

This has nothing to do with competitors. Like I said, because this catagory is to huge I only picked one SUV from each brand. In most cases the best from each brand. If you noticed the RX and GX lexus were not included, but they are competitors too.

It all a matter of what you like best out of this poll. That is how I set it up.

I choose the Audi Q7 because it's the vehicle which appeals to me in all ways possible. Love the exterior design, love the interior design and it's available with Audi's superb desiel engine! :eusa_danc

Runner Up - Porsche Cayenne. The reason I didn't choose it over the Q7 was because it lacks a desiel engine.

Reason for not picking other models:

Mercedes-Benz GL550:
An admirable SUV in my books, but it doesn't interest me much.

BMW X5:
Ditto as the GL550

Acura MDX:
Most definitely a consideration in my mind, in fact, after the Q7 and Cayenne it would most likely be my choice. I know most think it looks awful, but I really digg the design - pictures don't do it justice in my opinion.

Volkswagen Touareg:
Another great....But I feel it's missing something

Lincoln Navigator:
No..

Cadillac Escalade:
Yet again, no consideration in my mind. Not because it's American, but rather because I think it's utterly offensive, in all ways possible (sorry Caddy fans!).

Infiniti FX:
A strong consideration for myself, but it lacks something from the others in my opinion.

Volvo XC:
Don't like the XC and never have. I feel it's outclassed in everyway here.

Lexus LX:
Much prefer the previous LX.

[Range Rover:
I do like the Brit very much, but the fact that it's reliability is just terrible immediately voids it as a choice in my book.

Im not really into big cars and GL is larger than X5. So my choice is BMW X5. Reasons: exterior, interior, the total package.

My runner up is the Range Rover

GL for me cetainly the most prestigeous one of them and it really look menacing with that new grill!

This is a tough one!
1)X5 It's as if they perfected the previous one.
2)GL It just looks the part.
3)Q7 If I was only looking inside this would be my choose hands down!:eusa_thin

Im not really into big cars

Are probably the biggest in the bunch. And ....

Would all be considered Mid-size.

I would say the Gl would be in the middle. It's almost sized between full and mid-size.

How do you feel about the increase in length of the X5? And what are your thought on the X6, if that is how you feel?

I dont have much to say really. X5 looks good but I would never buy one.
Cars in the size of 3er and lower are more my type of cars.

Volvo XC:
Don't like the XC and never have. I feel it's outclassed in everyway here.

What is it about the Volvo XC that makes it outclassed?

Interior?

Exterior?

I would expect the Volvo to get a lot of votes. I remember when I did a similar thread like this before. A lot of people questioned me about why the Volvo wasn't included.

I have driven the car and it is very nice, but I do agree with you that it's no GL550. But I am interested in hearing your reasons.

I feel the XC is outclassed is nearly every sector. For starters, I've never considered Volvo's to be luxury cars
that compare with the best from Germany, etc. In fact, my opinion (and probably not a popular one),
is that an XC90 belongs in comparsion with Toyota Highlander's and the like.

Furthermore, I'm not overly thrilled with the materials or the stark design of the interior.

1. X5 (test drive-own)
2. GL 550 (test drive)
3. Cayenne (test drive)
4. Q7 (test drive)
5. Acura MDX
6. Range Rover
7. Infiniti FX (test drive)
8. Lexus LX
9. Touareg
10. Cadillac
11. Volvo (US version)
12. Lincoln

Since there is no Range Rover Sport here I have to go with the X5. I love the way it looks inside and out, it is a brilliant BMW.

Runner up would be the GL550. I like the exterior better than I do the interior and I really couldn't see myself driving something so large.

There are some former favorites in the rest of the pile, but none of them really do anyting for me anymore. Though some of them are really nice like the Audi, VW, RR and even the Acura. I could go for the VW, Porsche or Infiniti if forced, but I'd rather walk than drive that hideous, gas sucking Lexus LX570. It is a particularly awful looking contraption.

I want to drive a long Range in the Rover:D. There are so many awesome SUVs out there but I find the Range Rover to be the most original one. So big, so boxy and elegant. Although I prefer there Range Rover the sport is pretty sweet. Especially with Rinspeed rims.
