Hot! Bentley EXP 9 F Concept

Will you throw tomatoes on me, if I say I kinda like this car? :D

Tumbo, I would say you have good taste. It's really not that bad. My only issue is the front bumper. It has an excellent interior and it does seem to follow more of the Mulsanne design more so than the Cont GT. The overall profile of the car is excellent. Of course a lot of that has to do with the RR overall shape. If they make a few changes by production, this could be a real winner.

Sweet mother of Christ, look at the size of the touch senseless buttons on the edges of the screen? Were they commissioned by Fisher-Price?

Unique and ultra-luxurious car that will probably have the greatest presence on the road...
I like it for one more reason... no one offers anything even remotely close to this car :)
UNIQUE!!!!

It is in a giant crate at Geneva. To me it looks like Bentley did years back for customers such as the Sultan of Brunei etc and customised Range Rover's to be Bentley's by giving them typical Bentley features. The new Range Rover due this Summer and now driving about with little disguise in latest pictures should apparently rest easy.
Now you know why BMW would rather have an X7 SAV in place of a Rolls-Royce based model. Because it just sticks out and not in a good way.

This is a prime example of brand extension taken too literarily. It would be akin Range Rover designing a sedan. Certain design approach don't lend themselves to products that fall outside the traditional basket of goods.

It's still very ugly, don't get me wrong......but it is a lot less ugly than it was yesterday. Maybe it's a design I will never really like, but a design I can at least live with and like for what it is....who knows. For now it has been beaten with the ugly stick.

It's still a Frankenstein car with a Mulsanne's exterior and Gallibier interior. The car is unforgiving from every aspect. Although yesterday's shock horror is over and I'm, just like you, less appalled by it, I still find it a waste of energy.

Like that Aston-Martin SUV of a few years back, there is nothing that can help this design. Its done. Its a ugly, ill-proportioned mess. If Bentley is listening to sighted people they won't produce this abomination.

Significant improvement, but that doesn't say much.

It will have MASSIVE presence because it has a massive chromed grille, but let's face it (forget the looks) and think about this: How will you sell an SUV 3-4 times the price of a Range-Rover and market it as a better product that a Range-Rover? This PR sum does not add up at all;)

It might shine a new light on the Range Rover, making buyers of Large Luxury SUV's realize just what big bargain the Range Rover actually is...

It's quite easy to better Range Rover, just make it reliable :D

Bentley Already At Work On Revised SUV Design

Seems like they have finally realized now that their SUV isn't pretty. Hopefully the next time they show the concept, its style will be based on the Continental GT. :t-cheers:

To put it mildly, the styling of Bentley’s recently unveiled EXP 9 F SUV concept is somewhat controversial.

Bentley is well aware of this, stating that customer and public reaction to the concept is being monitored closely before production is given the green light and a final design is locked in.

A redesign of the EXP 9 F may already be in progress, however, according to a new report from the UK.

An inside source has told What Car? the EXP 9 F’s styling is “a little heavy handed” and that an alternative design is being worked on.

The source went on to reveal that Bentley’s designers are planning a more conventional SUV shape for the next iteration of the design, with less retro surfacing and slightly smaller headlights. The fog lights will remain, though these will reportedly be moved further inward from their current position at the outer edges of the EXP 9 F’s front bumper.

One design aspect that is expected to remain is the long wheelbase, which has been implemented to provide limo-like legroom in the rear. Bentley is targeting its SUV at customers in China, Russia, and the Middle-East, where it’s common for owners to ride in the back of their cars rather than do the driving themselves.

Most likely overseeing the look of the new SUV is acclaimed designer David Hilton, who was recently appointed the head of exterior design at Bentley.

Like the concept, any production model will also sport a 12-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic. However, all drivetrain options including a hybrid remain under consideration, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer has confirmed.

Bentley has plenty of time to perfect the design as a production version, if approved, isn’t expected in showrooms until 2015 at the earliest. This means you can bet we’ll see at least one more SUV concept from the British automaker before then.

Good move from VAG. The realise it's not a consensual design and they go for the safe way and redesign it. Some brands should do the same...listen to the public reaction before make it a finish product...
