Battle of the supercars: M3 vs IS-F

Just finished watching the show on 'Speed' channel. M3 had ZCP and M-DCT.

Here is how it went down:

0 - 100 mph - 0

Paul tracy in M3 could not figure out launch control so tried tried stabbing the throttle from a dead stop resulting in a slow start. Complained about how the car does nothing and abruptly revs up and drops the clutch. He made up in the braking part of the test and won.

Test Winner: M3


60 - 100 mph

Paul Tracy in M3 pulled away rather easily from the IS-F putting on about 2 - 3 car lengths by 100 mph.

Test Winner: M3


Standing half mile race

Finally Paul Tracy learns how use launch control system in this run. Tanner in IS-F cheats a bit and jumps the line. M3 still manages to reel the IS-F back in and then pass and put about 2 - 3 car lengths by 1/2 mile.


Road course

Here is the surprise where most expect M3 to dominate. The IS-F was neck and neck with the M-DCT ZCP M3 until Tanner in IS-F brake checked the following M3 resulting in M3 ending up off the track into the dirt.

Test Winner: IS-F


Overall winner: M3

Brake checking shouldn't be allowed in "testing" of cars. That's just retarded.

But yeah, M3 winning overall isn't even a surprise. But I will say that IS-F is a great first effort from Lexus.

Well they're not amateurs but they certainly suck donkey balls at talking in front of a camera and conducting a test with any kind of consistency. The test themselves are pretty dumb. They should have a disclaimer for that show informing viewers of the sheer retardedness they are about to witness.

BTW I didn't watch this test, although, I had the misfortune of enduring a different episode and I can tell you I won't make that mistake again.

The "track comparison" must be the important part here. Track comparison is put in quotation, as it sounds like the test was conducted by two drunken hillbillies in a field...

I don't think they are that bad. They were fairly accurate. The inconsistencies you are talking about hold true for most tests (TopGear wet lap and dry lap??)

The only surprise was Tanner sticking very close to the M3 around the road course (especially when the M3 had ZCP). I think it could be because Tracy was taking it easy and not pushing it very hard.

Awesome video & unsurprising results! M3 is & has always been the king-of-the-ring!

However, I'd love to see the M3 sedan vs Is-F. Btw, that Lexus has some ugly weirdo rims!
