Porsche, VW file charges on suspected bugging of CEO's hotel room

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Porsche SE. and Volkswagen AG. have filed charges against unknown persons on suspicion that Porsche's chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking's hotel room was wiretapped during a visit to Volkswagen's headquarters in Wolfburg, Germany last year, Der Spiegel magazine reported, without citing sources.

A private security company discovered an activated babyphone behind the couch in Wiedeking's room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on November 15, the magazine said in an excerpt of a report to be published Monday.

The charges were filed with with public prosecutors in Braunschweig, Germany, which will investigate the matter jointly with the state of Lower Saxony's Office of Criminal Investigation, it said.
