OUR TAKE: Passats have always been among our favorite midsize sedans. We especially like this model with the turbo four. It's nicely equipped, as they say on TV, and the sticker is a bargain for what you get.
It's a lot of fun to drive, too. Step on the gas and there is a tiny bit of "wait 'til the tach hits about 2500 rpm"--and then hang on! The thing scoots along with the teeniest amount of torque steer. Speaking of steering, it's darn fine. It cruises beautifully at 80 mph and returns fuel economy ratings in the high 20 mpgs at that speed--30-something mpg on the highway if you chill. It does demand premium, though, whose price is ain't-cheap-a-gallon, though.
The interior is of a quality in materials and comfort we've come to expect from the VW Group.
