1M Autosavant Road Test: BMW 1M Coupe

The BMW 1 Series M Coupé (often referred to as the "1M") is the high-performance model of the E82 coupe range, sold under the BMW M performance sub-brand. While BMW naming convention would have called the car the "M1", an alternate name was chosen to avoid confusion with the BMW M1 supercar from the 1970's. Official website: BMW M
Your lucky! they are very rare where I live and nowhere to testdrive. ITs sucks :(

Is it a private car since the stripes are not standard?

Excellent and most enjoyable write-up, thanks:usa7uh:

I swear that when I was asleep last night, I could hear the 1 Series M Coupe’s metallic rasp echoing around my ears.

LOL. So then it's normal!? Us motoring enthusiasts have most of the same problems in common:D

When BMW announced that the 1-Series would have an M variant, the car world listened. The ingredients were ripe for an M that has not been seen since the trend of heavier cars and longer wheelbases took over. The M6, M5 and M3 (let’s not even go to the X5M and X6M, shall we?) of the current crop are excellent cars, no doubt, but they lack the essence of a truly lightweight and compact sports car.

Indeed, thank you;) As I said in my first driving impression of my X6 ///M - It's certainly an M, certainly fast, powerful and mind blowing yet the involvement or as I like to call it "ass to the tar" feeling and involvement is absent.
When I drove the Z4 35is I realized that is just that I am missing.

I would give the old lefty (testicle) to have the opportunity of driving the 1M:bowdown::D

Hey Just_me! Yeah, because Singapore has a M-exclusive dealership, we get the latest M cars, usually one of the first in the world. I also wrote about the showroom here: Autosavant Pays a Visit To the World

It is a dealer car - don't quite know why they want to put the stripes (not my taste).

Human, is the car not going to be at South Africa for the public to drive?

Unfortunately only 70 models were allocated for SA and all has been sold. I have an advanced driving course booked for BMW M customers in September, asked my local dealer if there is going to be a 1M Coupe - he could not yet confirm.

Wow. Singapore is a country of about 5 million people: and we have 40 units!

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
