AutoExpress puts the Lexus LS against the S-class

Look, I appreciate the Lexus' attention to detail but that engine bay... it's just, just (voice quivering with irrational emotion) WRONG!

I want a CAR for God's sake - not a bloody tumbledryer!

I rate that Lexus - hooogely - but the Merc wins it everytime for me.

Sometimes, in a way I find myself liking the LS460L. I couldn't stop looking at the brochure when I first go it. Then there are other things that put me so far off from liking the car.

This car has to many exterior styling cues from BMW!

1) Side profile
2)Head lights
3) It look's like a fake as 7 Series!

For some crazy reason, despite all the obsessive, painstaking work Toyota has put into turning Lexus into a first-rate luxuruy brand, ugly green digital clocks straight out of 1986 are still found on every single dash, including the new LS! It's crazy.

Just as a side note, there's a digital lcd clock in MB SL as well...

Never noticed that bmer... Something new I learnt today! I guess there are other Mercedes' with this digital dash clock as well? Or is it just the SL?

To give Mercedes credit this clock is placed rather stylishly.

I for one have nothing wrong with that engine bay. It looks, clean, unfussy and typically Japanese - simple and neat.

You can't just say whatever you want here and you know it. That particular comment did not add any value for this forum. You know I like this place for the high level of conversation on almost any topic and that kind of posts don't really raise the level. But let's just leave it here so it won't get out of hand.

Phew...this Lexus is so good technically it's getting uncomfortably close to the S. But still at the end of the daythe S still rides better, is now aruguably better built and finished than the LS, and above all looks and feels special. As Osna so aptly put it, theres an undeniable Toyota Aura in every Lexus interior that they need to seriously get over to take it to the next level. The level where the S-class is.

Looking forward to more comparisons.
