Still testing prototypes, are we?

I would love a side-by-side test between a production car and one of these prototypes :D

Performance both in the straight line and on a track is pretty poor considering the price. Well, nothing new. Sport Auto supertest and other tests have already shown it.

Some more LFA results from autocar :

1/4 mile - 12,14 @ 199,68 km/h
0-1000m - 21,55 @ 254,1 km/h

100-200km/h time of 7,8s is not that bad. Launch control would help acceleration times to look better. But even apart from the launch it is still considerably slower than 458 Italia, Turbo S and others costing half the price in Europe.

Turbo S with autocar behind the wheel did 0-100km/h in 3,2s (0-60mph in 3,01s) and 0-200km/h in 10,1-10,2s. 100-200km/h in 6,9-7,0s. :usa7uh:

It is priced that way for very good reasons. It's a CF-tubbed car with body, transmission, and engine being built from scratch. 500 cars over 2 years total compared to 1200+ 458's already built in less than a single year (8 months). The 458 is built from less exotic material, with engine/transmission development cost largely absorbed with the California (5000 units planned in 2 years). With 1200 serious expressions of interest, ordering closed early due to demand in Japan (where they probably could have sold all 500 if they'd wanted), and the final couple dozen being shuffled around to target markets, it looks like Lexus have priced it right, to what the market will bear. If anything, they could have sold for quite a bit more.

Despite the lack of traction control, lack of 7-speed DCT, and massive aero drag past 80km/h due to the wing, it's only fractionally slower than the SLS. We've already seen it posting a faster lap time in same-day testing against the SLS.

And yes, still a prototype.
