Just as I expected, I went to the link, 2nd page and it clearly said that the BMW was disadvantaged due to price. I don't know why these cars are being compared with one another.

Passat also has a disadvantage against the 3 series cause it's much bigger in size and the 4 motion adds at least 100 kgr of extra weight.

thats one of many reasons why Passat came on last place in this test, its not sporty enough compared to the others and since it was a test about the best sportsedan, 330i won. No need to make such fuss about it. Its just a test out of many.

A view into the price lists manifests the conclusion-finite Ranking: The BMW remains despite its horrenden surcharge organization the number one - it sets off too clearly in nearly all other disciplines from the competitors. The Mazda lands by its Dumpingpreis at the second place - although it uses at most. OPEL lands before VOLKSWAGEN on rank three - despite extra bonuses: The sympathetic Ruesselsheimer done beside the 250-km/h-Abriegelung also without the nerve-killing belt bleeper - and lies thereby at least in the anarchy valuation in front impossible to catch up. That is nevertheless which.

Any particular reason except "great car"? Sorry for being curious...

Just a personal choice. I've driven it and I like it more then the others. I think the passat is ugly, and I don't like BMW, so I would pick the Mazda out of those. Really quick car.

That is a Passat Highline and the aluminium trim is real unlike the 3 series which is fake (painted plastic).

Oh oh, let's buy the Passat now then!!!!

For the average family the passat is better than the 3er. If sporty driving is top of your list then its 3er easy.

Like YW said.

Passat is a family car (although with a powerful engine and DSG can be sporty too) and 3er is a compact luxury sport sedan. The two cars are world's apart.

The new Passat is a good car for the money. I seen PAssat vs A4 comparison where PAssat won the comparison since for the money Passat is a better package. But who cares really? Audi or bmw anyday over PAssat....

The 3er is probably the coolest of this lot, IMO of course. The Passat is quite appealing too, but has this "all things to all people" look to it (externally at least), the interior is a revaltion.
