Autobild: BMW M6 Cabrio and Lambo Gallardo Spyder on N-ring

the only reason why they say its too comfortable because bmw's M models are made for this track take the limiter of the m6 and give new carbon fiber brakes from M technics and it will be faster!! ;)

no hate to lamborghini at all but for what you pay you don't get enough
the big brother is just so much better

sorry dude, but there is no way an M6 is taking on a Gallardo on a track. on the straights the M6 may be roughly equal but no speed limiter and carbon ceramic brakes will not be cutting off 15 seconds a lap! the only place on the track the M6 gets to 250 is that back straight.

moreover, looking at those pictures I can tell that the Gallardo Spyder is not fitted with the track package. thus not only does it not have the prefered suspension setup for a track, it doesnt have the carbon ceramic brakes or the P Zero Corsas (R compounds). those three things over 21 km and 172 turns can easily add up to 5 or more seconds.

either way, the Gallardo Spyder is not ment for the track. and the M6 even less so.

Interesting comparison, and no surprise the Lambo won!

Amazed though that the M6 still looks hot next to the Gallardo, but I'd go for the Gallardo because it's more rare, faster, and feels more special!

:usa7uh: Good Choice Buddy :t-cheers: just need the 200k now :D

you come in your gallardo and i will come in an m6 see whos faster, just impossible that that car is 15 seconds slower than a gallardo

Nah, not impossible, 300 kg weigh difference is a lot on a track.
Only way for a M6 to beat a Gallardo is in straightline but not on a track. M6 Convertb. isnt hardcore enough for the track.

A M6 Coupé does N-ring in 8.09 min and a Gallardo with a roof does it in 7.52 min.

as a huge lambo fan I will tell you that a Gallardo and an M6 would be on par with one another in a straight line. the Gallardo however (especially the coupe) is 3500 lbs with fuel and all. the M6 weighs as much as a Murcielago. so there is roughly a 400-500 lbs weight difference. then there is the awd. then the fact that the Gallardo's center of gravity is much lower than the bimmer's. over 21 km of the Nring, 15 seconds is not out of the question. infacts, its pretty realistic.

EVO lap times:

1:22.80 - Lamborghini Gallardo MK2
1:26.40 - BMW M6

SportAuto Hring times:

Lamborghini Gallardo -------------1.11,8 min
BMW M6 ------------------------ 1.14,4 min

the M6 can run on the straights, but not even close to it when it comes to braking and turning.

the lap times I listed are around tracks that are 2-3 km long. over 20.8 km and 172 turns, I would not be surprised if a Gallardo was 15, maybe 20 seconds faster.

I'm pretty surprised the M6 is that heavy. Had to rub my eyes again to make sure. :D

Both M6 and Gallardo are awesome cars and look pretty unconventional in their own way. Here, I'd pick Lamborghini because it is a bit more special, faster, lighter...It looks crazy good in real life.

Gallardo should win-it looks way better too. The M6 has a better powerplant and gear box though-but thats about it.

I have not been reading up much on the BMW M6, but didn't one magazine criticize it for being "too heavy" to be a true M car? I think it was Evo or Fifth Gear (I am probably wrong) who stated this and said the M6 was more of a fast GT car than sportscar.

Well... thing about the M6 is that you could always use the thing as an everyday driver. It's a "normal" car, with room for two in the back. You wouldn't really want to track one much as you'd just want to enjoy the thing like you would any other luxury car.

I like the Gallardo, but it's not really something special in LA, so I'd definitely spring for the M6, just by virtue of it being the more accomplished street car.

Put it another way - The Gallardo could conceivably be a weekend car to the M6 just by virtue of its character, if you're one of those "supergarage" types.

Winner is Gallardo becuase M6 is too comfortable on this track. Fun reason to lose for a change :D

Nice responce, I couldn`t help but laugh...:t-hihi:

I`ll read the article later on. Looks like this Gallardo swept the track with some impressive numbers.

Well...tuff choice..but i would have the bmw..its more practable. You can look good, drive fast and still get ya shoping in the boot...where as the lambo u cant use it everyday...bmw is my choice....:)

How bout a M6 CSL - Convertible Sport Lightweight :t-cheers:

I think that's what it would take for a fair comparison. Numbers don't always make a just comparo, the M6 has two extra seats in the back as well.
