Vs Autobild: BMW 135i vs Audi S3 vs Golf R32 DSG

I just dont see how its nice looking. A aston martin looks nice, a lambo looks nice, a ferrari looks nice, but that? That doesnt look very nice at all.

We all see different thats why people have different taste regarding design. Shouldnt come as a surprise for you ;)
and no, Aston, ferrari, lambos arent nice, they are gorgeous. There is a difference between nice and gorgoeus and NO, 135i isnt gorgoeus but it isnt ugly either.

Well, it's kind of pointless to compare it to Aston, Ferrari and Lamborghini. I really don't understand how the 1 Series is so ugly to the few people here.
I just saw one (5-dr hatchback) parked down the street half an hour ago and really tried to look for the ugliness in the car but as hard as I tried, I couldn't find it. The big front lights might make the front remind of a puppy's face but compared to any other regular cars the 1er doesn't stand out as ugly. 3 Series Compact was ugly, pre-facelifted 7 Series was ugly but 1 Series? I don't think so.

I think current 7er is ugly facelift or no facelift.

With the 1 series the side profile looks pretty but the front just looks dumpy and frumpy like and the rear end just isnt sleek at all. The back end looks dated and old.

Not that it would probably change your mind... but you haven't even seen the car in real life yet. OK we get it, you don't see how anyone can find the car attractive, but some others will. it's that simply

For example, I can say that the car in your avatar isn't attractive at all, but that would just be MY opinion.

LoL Warot thats pointless. Doesnt matter if he see it IRL, as long its a bmw badge you wont see Poverty liking it. All his 473 posts I cant recall he have said anything positive about bmw. Its against his nature to like bmw. :D

Dont be silly man I love BMW. Most my friends drive BMW 3 series. I do love audi more though.

And I have seen 1 series coupe in flesh as they had one on display ages ago when it was at the 02 arena (previously known as the millenium dome). I saw the 1 series coupe like 5 times as I always go there on nights out :D

People didnt really pay much notice to the car though. I had a feeling BMW was a bit disapointed. No one stopping to staire or turning their heads.

LOL That's the part that changed the most with the facelift. New rear lights with LED stripes. Dated? And if you're talking about the 1er Coupe which is barely on the streets yet so are you saying it looks dated already? I don't think the A3 even has LED-lights, does it? :t-hands:

EDIT: Oh, now I see it. The back end of the 1 Series Coupe definitely looks old and dated compared to the new and fresh design of the S3's rear end. :D

Really? you love BMW? cant be Bangle bmw can it? ;)

PS I hate it but people do look at my car when I drive it in the city but what do I know, they migth find me attractive and not the car :D. Heck, sometimes when I get out of the store and walking towards my car, I see people standing and looking at my car. I just hate it, just getting me nervous that people have done something bad with my car. Now, Im not saying everyone look at my car but it does happen, more often than I thought. Luckily its not a Ferrari I own, I bet they get a lot of attention and that would just make me sweat. I'm not an attention whore ;)

I take it there are not alot of BMW's in your country. In the UK you cannot escape them. BMW company cars everywhere.

S3 design is a oldie but its a goodie. Minimalistic conservative design audi is famous for at near perfection. Just like how people say the audi 80 is still beautiful and looks and has stood the time much better than equivelant bmw or mercedes. :D

there are many many bimmers in Sweden however sales for A4 is better than 3-series and sales for 5-series are better than A6. For being a Volvoland there are many bimmers, benzes and audis in Sweden. Not every swedes are patriots :D

S3 just look plain to me. I have never liked A3 and S3 wont help either although it look better than standard A3. I guess its too minimalistic for my taste. :t-hands:

I'm freakin' impressed about the S3 performance! It has proven to be a killer on tracks, and this time it has done it again! Beating the 40hp stronger 135i is impressive!!!

So don't come here and tell me that new Audis are "boring" on tracks!

Not quite. He was very positive about the 135i here:

"I think this is the only bmw I would choose over a equivelant audi model. I think this car is great with the 335i engine. Will shock so many drivers. Think this car is absolutely brilliant and kudos to bmw for having the guts to give the 1er coupe so much power."

Which makes his complete reversal here all the more puzzling.

It would have been even more impressive if we knew that the test was performed on a dry track!

Regarding the degree of fun-on-track; round times tell you almost nothing about that.

No, it would be more impressive if the S3 was as comfortable as a 135i. In this test they complained that the ride in S3 was very harsh, the suspension wasnt exactly comfortable. Thats the price you had to pay to get the S3 a fast laptime. The laptimes difference was so small its not even worth arguing about so I pick the more comfortable choice and top on that I will beat that S3 in straightline and if I want my 135i to be fast around a track then I add a real LSD + some driver lessons. :D

That is a returning comment regarding Audi suspension these days. I think it is nice that they try to make their cars as sporty as possible. But since most people will use their Audi as a daily driver that aspect may not be compromised.

I personally do not mind a firm ride so I guess it is not an issue to me but others might have other opinions.

Damn, I can't believe im back at work again, six hours after I left...

Neither do I but since the laptimes difference is so slim the bimmer is doing a better job combining performance with handling and comfort. That is more impressive. Top on that you get RWD

Im so looking forward to the summer so I can start playing around with my car. Turn off all electronical help-aid and just fool around :eusa_danc

Ye but people complain about regular BMW's being too stiffly sprung, whilst the S3 is top of the range A3 so stiff is expected. Plus S3 is on a old chassis now, fairer test would be TT-S vs 135i coupe. I think TT would easily beat the 125i around the track ;)
