so is the R8, its the same tires RS4 used when tested in sportauto? Noone complained so why start now?

EDIT: or did the RS4 use Pirelli P Zero corsa ? Im confused.

EDIT2: RS4 did use Pirelli Corsa while it seems that the R8 is using normal tires.

Yes R8 is using normal tyres. Same ones that are fitted to SEAT ibiza FR's and cupras.

Now if it's the normal C6 then you might be right, but put down the Z06 man and the world will laugh at you. The Z06 is a handling monster, that car has given every other sports car maker nightmares.

Also, the M3 isn't just a 3er with a big engine and a sports suspension...if that were the case Ricers should have a faster car than the Veyron, but they don't.

It's one thing to give reason, but it's totally different to give the wrong info.
 
I love it! One day there comparing the R8 against Ferrari's and Lambo's, and the next there comparing it against M3's and Vette's! The R8 seems to straddles many different segments..:)

1. The main reason I said the M3 is just a 3-serie with sport-suspension and big engine is that this is the feeling I've got when I "tested" the RS4.
It's a A4 with sport suspension and big engine.. Helle yeah it goes well and M3 goes just as good but there are no soul and less effort in making the car special. (maybe mostly beacuse of the "Sleeper"design trend) (and that cars like the R8 exists)
The R8 is totally opposite! and the price as well.. ;)

2. ZO6 ok I haven't eaven taken a serious look at this car for sure...
I'm taking back what I've said because lack of information. (I can see you didn't actually like what I said). But if this car handels as good as the BMW and R8. AM cars has made a HUGE step forward and German cars a HUGE step backwards.

3. I should put "IMO" after my last post about the cars yes..
These are mine opinions not cold facts.. again sorry.

4. But R8 still will be the vinner.. for me ;)

when the M5 V10 came to the market. there were magazines comparing M5 to a Ferrari F430 :)

I'm glad you took a serious look at what I stated...I didn't mean to offend, just to give you a heads up.

As you might say, that M3 and RS4 lack soul I would disagree. Simply because once again, that is a matter of opinion. And you're right, they were built as sleepers aka "Afterschool special" (is that right?). They are meant to be cars that you can park in a normal parking lot and not garner too much attention like the Ferrari and Lambos do.

In contrast, the R8 was designed as a flashy car. It stands as a design icon for AUDI, in which AUDI is saying "Look what we can make".

The M3 and RS4 have lots of soul. I'll say and most of the journalists will agree with me, the M3 is one of the most "soulful" cars out there. It's nothing new or radical, it's been in existence and in people's hearts for decades. If that's not soul my friend then I don't know what "soul" is.

As for AM cars. Nah, they've been making cars that kick ass on track for a long time, it's just this time one of the F__king companies figured out that it will be good for their Road car division to get some help from their racing division. Just look for god sake, The C5R and C6R have been destroying other cars in their class for years now...Hell, GM is considering pulling out of races because they don't even have competition anymore.

BTW...I never said going with R8 is wrong or anything. And you're more than welcome to choose it. I was just saying that the so reasons you laid out were more of just opinion and not facts.

I don't know about the RS4, but M3 has mechanically almost nothing in common with the 3er besides the basic chassis. I was just looking at this E92 M3 Technical Guide for BMW Service Centers doc (thanks to Deutsch for posting it), and it shares more things with M5/M6 than E92 3er (The doc is full of "refer to M5 docs for more details"). Suspension is completely diffrent including geometry and the frame to which the suspension is attached - not the usual stiffer springs/shocks. Drive line is completely different - it is actually derived from the manual M5 - but made lighter (the clutch itself is 4kg lighter). The drive shafts are all hollow and the final drive and limited diff is again derived from M5/M6. The steering system is derived from the E92 but a quicker ratio.

Nah, you weren't wrong man...you're just stating your love for the R8. And lemme' tell you...I F__KING LOVE THAT CAR!! It is hands down, the baddest, sexiest and most stable car I've ever driven. :t-cheers:
