Good Comparison! I think that sometimes the traditional "audi style" LEDs look nicer, while other times I prefer the angel eyes. It really depends on how Audi's LEDs are executed; A4's, A5's, and A7's look really nice to me, while I'm not such a fan of the A3's and Q5's (I must prefer LEDs to be under the projector, not above). Other times, Audi goes a bit overboard in the case of the Q7.

BMW's angel eyes are executed in similar ways in all of their models, so there's not much comparing to be done inside the BMW range. However, I do prefer the LED angel eyes to the standard; it makes a small but noticeable difference in say, the X5, where US spec models come with only the standard angel eyes.

So here's my preference model by model:

A1 (no real competitor from BMW...yet)
A3<1er
A4>3er
A5>3er Coupe/Cabrio
A6<5er
(I'll compare the A7 to the 6er because the 6er's front shouldn't change much when it becomes the Gran Coupe)
A7>6er
A8=7er
Q5<X3
Q7<X5/X6
TT=Z4
R8 (No competitor)

I like the Leds under also, not over. BMW does seem to recycle their angel eyes a lot. I think the 5 has the best looking lights for BMW with the turn signal eye brow. You said LED angel eyes should be the standerd. Does this work?

Don't you think it's impossible to give a comparison on the lights on their own without taking in the whole overall design of the front? :t-hands:

The irony is the 4 rings that BMW's angle eyes form would have suited Audi better. I bet Audi designer's wished they thought of it first.

As for the lights themselves, I like the one in A1 cause you can't make out the individual LEDs so it doesn't look like christmas lights. The rest all do, the worst being Q7, I wince everytime I see one in my rear view mirror.

Are you so sure that Audi weren't offered this design first and decline. ;)

Some LED designs are more successful than others, and this comment is directed towards all the manufacturers that now use them.

BMW's angel eyes is a continuation of its heritage, they had circular lights since.... i don't know when... and i think BMW was the first to come up with DRL or parking lights that are of a special shape, as opposed to a small 5W bulb, and also the first to have "graphics" or at least some kind of shape in the headlights.. it was about after the E46 and E38/9 FL that MB started to have clear headlight lens, then Audi..

Audi's are more creative, apparent (and distracting from the designs, at the same time), and interesting initially. BMW's are simply more clever, more timeless, and more iconic.

This. BMW started the whole headlight graphics trend, and they do it by far the best. Audi makes it's cars look like, well, you know...a certain type of tree that we always see late december. Like a lot of other car makers really, since they all have designer lights nowadays. But don't forget who started it all.

Either way, comparing Audi's forced lights to BMW's stunning idea is just wrong to begin with. Better to compare Audi's lights to all those other brands with ugly riced up LED strips :)

Also, the original post: nice, E60 5er and E65 7er instead of the new models :t-banghea:t-banghea

Not really. BMW lights actually have a function for the design, since quad round headlighs are a BMW trademark just like the kidney grille and Hofmeister kink. And with the angel eyes, you can even see the design statement at night.

Audi logo is 4 rings intertwined, completely different from two rings next to eachother on both sides. Plus Audi has no design trademark history with quad headlights.

Why have you used the E60 and not the F10 for the 5 Series when it's seven years old, and also the E65 7 Series? :t-hands:

Thank you very much.

Is that white angel leds on the E60?

To me, there is no competition. The LEDs are way cooler then the angel eyes. Always thought that. When you see an A5, you just drooool

LED looks good on A5 and R8 but it doesnt fit on other models. Looks ridiculous on A3.

And then, there are these people that don't know to never ever put LEDs on a BMW...

Again I will repeat, how can you really compare these two designs without including the overall appearance of the front of the car as these two things are impossible to separate in my opinion.

I find it cool looking and well done, plus like sunny said 4 rings is something perfectly suited for Audi, and yes Olympus is barcelonian.
