WTF :cwm1: :cwm1:

Ambient lighting on rear door cards is optional - on a six figure car. This is just to gas light you into buying Vorsprung trim and bring the price to €130,000.

No lining in rear door cards is skimpy at this price range. Every single storage compartment in my W211 Eclass is felt lined. Why is luxury regressing?

I have to say the Q9 has the BEST powered door of any car including rolls royce. They open very fast! What makes them unique is that they:
-Are also powered then you shut them manually by hand. A tiny shove and it will close. On a Rolls Royce you have to grab the door handle and press a button.

-Rear doors can be opened and closed from the from infotainment. Handy for a complete hands free experience for people in the back.
-In the rear there are buttons for opening closing on the door but also on the headliner.

Kids can reach the buttons on on the door. Super handy for doors that are huuuuge and heavy.

Other than that it's difficult to judge the car as this is a fully loaded Q9S. We need to see what standard seats and equipment levels are like.

I presume that the Q9 is a product that represents the twilight of Marc Lichte supervised design. And with all due respect to Herr Lichte, it becomes evident that it will be beneficial for Audi AG to finally have these vehicles flushed out of the pipeline in order to introduce the upcoming Radical Next/Clarity era of design. It cannot come soon enough IMHO.

The wing-shaped door handles, which will also be used in the X5 and X7, have been replaced by classic pull-out door handles. Frankly, another step backward.
How is it a step backwards? As pretty as wing shaped door handle are, usability wise they are a disaster. Require finger tip presicion to grab, more challenging to grab whilst holding something in your hand. Unnecessarily high up for more difficult for children or those in a wheelchair to reach.

I appreciate the aesthetics of cars that have them. However I am thankful that there will be cars that have door handles.

Even better, these aren't flush door handle but good old grabable handles.

Not this stupid non sense:

Is this based on some other Audi model sold elsewhere?

M

It represents the largest PPC architecture configuration to date. And it is squarely aimed at the North American market. Good luck with that, Audi AG not yet having brand specific production facilities in the U.S. and the erratic tariff politics of the current administation in Washington D.C. make this a potentially dodgy endeavor. I doubt that I will actually ever see one of these on German public roads. Not that I'll miss it. At all.

The seats in that Q9 look amazing.

M
The seats are the only things I really like in this interior but otherwise it is very uninspiring for a flagship SUV. There are Hyundais and Kias with better looking interiors than this car. What a disappointment from Audi. Why cant they use the same interior design used on the AUDI Chinese models. They are leaps ahead of this!

The Q9 interior looks cheap and horribly outdated compared to the AUDI E7X

AUDI E7X interior is in another league.

Yes, they definitely missed the mark. The seats are beautiful, but everything else looks like it's from the early 2020s. This interior is inadequate and outdated for a luxury car introduced in 2026. Audi seems to have resigned itself to its fate. This interior has no chance against the G67 X7, which will be introduced in 2027.

The GLS is a stretched GLE. The X7 a stretched X5. Why would the Q9 not be a stretched Q7 or an A6 on stilts with three rows?

Isn't the purpose it this segment utilitarian e.g transport 6-7 full sizes adults or 4 with full sized suitcases and carry ons?

The fact that they're longer doesn't change anything. The design is extremely simple and unpretentious. Those looking for practicality can buy the VW Sharan.

The Q9 interior is about 2 generations behind the E7X.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
