Hot! Audi: What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
I'm always very skeptical regarding renderings appearing in Autocar. I seem to perceive them as being the most inaccurate of those appearing in automotive publications.

The irony must be lost on me here, because you keep posting AI generated images everywhere ;)

I find interesting the direct correlation between a bad design and a car with a significant part of the front end blacked out.

Hey, I've got my own threads (well...not really my own, but you catch the drift) for that. "Haters" can, should and I suspect do, avoid them. But that's absolutely cool with me.

In addition, some of the renderings that I've posted are from professional independent automotive/industrial designers. Perhaps AI supported, but based on the foundation of conceptual, architectural diagrams and sketches. Contributors like Avarvaari, Sugar Design, Kolesa, Jon Sibal and several others, are trained industrial designers or trained technical digital illustrators. Hence, a very significant difference to the solely textprompt generated AI stuff.

So Rs5 will be presented around 17th-19th of this month

A rumor with some basis

Porsche’s EV Problems May Kill Audi’s New TT
Rising EV costs at Porsche could ripple across VW Group, putting Audi’s flagship EV at risk

Porsche is reportedly reconsidering the future of its all-electric 718 Boxster and Cayman.

That would be a major shift for the automaker, but here's the real problem: new reports suggest the unceremonious cancellation of Audi's new Concept C sports car before it even reaches production.

The problem is that it's designed around the same electric vehicle platform developed by Porsche and intended for the electric 718.

Yes...as the 718 EV architecture is a modfied PPE configuration, it is quite possible that the Audi version will not come to fruition should Porsche actually bin the Boxster/Cayman EV project.

A plausible scenario would be a "revisit" as soon as the new SSP (+) architecture makes it's debut. It is reported that the SSP(+) is so scalable, so flexible that it can accomodate BEV, REEV and ICE Hybrid powertrains. Of course, the "revisit" would probably equate to launches no earlier than 2029 or 2030.

Too bad it's not up to Audi.

This is the major and biggest problem of this shared platform stuff VAG is has been doing. f#ck up here and have problems everywhere.

The 718 EV is like 99.99% done. It's coming alright.
I am not buying any of this. It's simply too late whether they like it or not.

Should the PPE-architecture Porsche 718 EV project be discontinued, the chances that the accompanying Audi project will be susceptible to the same. The diminishing economies of scale will be something that Volkswagen AG will directly address, it's decision having priority over any reservations that Audi may have.

However, this does not necessarily imply that the Audi Concept C derived sportscar is categorically "dead". It may simply be delayed for a few years while being developed to accomodate a far more flexible, scalable, multiple powertrain option compatible architecture that would replace the PPE. The same would apply to the Porsche Boxster/Cayman.

Of course, this is "way out there" (Courtesy of Sugar-Design):

But please note: This is not "AI slop", but a sketch-based, AI supported creation by an accomplished digital and concept designer. And IMHO, very interesting.

That flank and wheelarch surfacing...the sideglass graphics...the wheel-to-overall height ratio...the wide tracked stance... Simply marvelous IMHO.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
