For me personally the GLK is a distant third in this poll, it's just too square for its own good but some may well dig this type of styling.

The Q5 has got everything I want in a car. Except that stupid name though. Q5-S is so much better. Anyways, my vote of course.

BMW X3 xDrive35d in SE (not M-Sport) spec for me please. The X3's one of those zero to hero cars in one generation change for me.

^Have to agree Martin, the original wasn't that great but the latest is an exceedingly good SUV.

I like the Q7 and the RSQ3 but even I don't really like the Q5. I prefere even the GLK, the Q5 does not look much like a SUV. The Q5 does have some nice touches, but I guess at facelift the X3 will also get all the nice things like LED, actually it is the only thing missing. But this poll is not accurate. Is it just Q5 vs. X3 vs. GLK or SQ5 vs. X3 xDrive35d M Sport vs. GLK 350 CDI 4Matic AMG Package ?

Actually the SQ5 has no direct rival. The X3 M35i would be a direct rival, even with a petrol engine.

Also I agree with Just Me, the Evoque should have been in this poll. There is an Evoque Supercharged in preparation, to rival the Macan S.

The Evoque should not be in this poll. It's a smaller, more compact SUV compared to the X3, GLK and Q5. These three are perfect rivals even if the GLK falls way short on power in 350 CDI guise.

Oh and Levi... We haven't even seen anything tangible on the "Macan" and you're talking of Range Rover readying a supercharged engined Evoque to counter? C'mon man stop soiling this forum with your dream world imaginings and stay on topic in this thread.

The SQ5 and X3 xDrive35d are as close as rivals can be. Just look up the facts instead of sowing nonsense.

There's a real lack of consistency here Levi, to you the Q5 doesn't look like an SUV but the Q3 does with it's more hatchback than estate rear, check out the dimensions and Q5 is similar to an X3. Then you say the identically powered X3 35d isn't it's rival but a more powerful petrol powered X3 M35i would???

Like Just_me and yourself I too love the Evoque but Martin is right its too impractical to be considered a true rival unless boot space isn't an issue.

As far as the looks are concerned, I don't like any of those 3 SUVs. Design-wise I would prefer a Land Rover Freelander or the Volvo XC60. Driving dynamics-wise, I would prefer a 3 series and engine-wise, I am of the opinion that both Audi's 3.0 TDI and BMW's 35d engines are exceptional! It's very hard to choose among those 3 cars, so I won't vote.

:)

I don't like any of them really, but I'll have to go with the Q5 (surprisingly to me).

Why? Because it seems only Audi realized the art of "appropriation". Not everybody needs to go on a overdesigned sheetmetal bonanza to try and make every single segment of car look "funky fresh kewl, we need to make a statement"-esque. The Audi looks refreshingly conservative to my eyes, compared to the other two. Some segments need more simple and conservative offerings, this is one of them (small trucks with "bold elements" is a recipe for disaster, IMO, which is why I think the Evoque looks hilariously goofy).

The GLK is by far the worst. It's shows that at least during the time of its design, M-B still struggle to incorporate their design idiom into smaller/compact/cheaper cars.

If you look into the U.S figures, it shows how poorly the GLK is being received. Point is that an Audi is outselling it, and a Cadillac, etc. In M-B's core model ranges, they're usually at or amongst the top sellers in the U.S, far ahead of Audi (look at the E-Class VS the newer and very press-loved A6, it's crushing it). The GLK is selling.... because of that Star misrepresented on its cheekily goofy grille, but it's a laggard VS some other M-B models within their segment ranges.

I think once the diesel comes online sales will pick up. It certainly is a better truck post facelift.

The SRX is the bestseller here. It's YTD is literally double the Q5, the GLK, and the X3. And its absolutely horrid. I remember reading a survey once, and Cadillac is the most stylish luxury brand according to Americans.

Head over to Canada, and the charts are completely different. China; again, a different story.

Sales =/= success. And even when they do, you have to look at it globally (which the GLK still might not lead in, but that's not the point).

That segment is skewed to me in the U.S as SUV's generally are (they go in fashionable trends, one day huge is "in", then small, etc.), however the key tell tale is the Audi VS GLK sales. Audi's are still far behind M-B here in sales.

Anyway, sales don't = success or equate to "better" to me either, or any true car enthusiast or logical person who's judging product by product. I guess the reason why I used it here is that although I think the GLK is a flop as a "car", it's actually a sales flop in terms of M-B's market share VS how well its other models do within their segments. Yes, it sells decently as any Star-Car that doesn't look as horrid as an R-Class or the like will, but I don't think the enthusiasts OR market has responded too positively to it. At least to this design.
