A5/S5/RS5 Audi RS5 Thread (Spy pics & info)

The Audi A5 is a series of compact executive and grand touring coupé cars produced by Audi. Production: 2007-
Cant wait for this car!

Im hoping this car will dethrone the M3 the same way the S4 has managed to dethrone the 335.

^it WILL murder the M3 or it will be seen as a failure..

Just like the RS4 kicked the old M3´s ass..

^ At a much higher cost - almost as expensive as a CSL which of course as you like to term it "kicked RS4's ass" :). Hopefully Audi will get pricing right this time around.

^they wont..thats the only problem with the RS devision:(

Yea, but after seeing the new S4 prices here, I am hopeful. Also if the new RS5 ends up costing above 70k (old RS4 was 65K here), it will end up in GTR territory and I doubt it will fair too well there. I am hoping Audi is going to be mindful of that.

If anyone has Photoshop, go over the car with the "dodge tool"!!

Will bring up the details, my photoshop is f$%ked:eusa_doh::eusa_doh:

I see intercoolers.

I saw that too. I also saw an S5 badge and concluded that this might be the new S5 with the 3.0T and not the new RS5 as suggested here. I don't think the intercoolers on my S4 look like that though, I will check tonight. The front bumper in these photos is very similar to that of the "RS5" spotted at the 'ring. But that "RS5" sounded like an NA V8 to me.

I am not sure whether these are photos of the new RS5 or not. I would be interested to know who identified the car in these photos as an RS5 and why they believe this car to be an RS5.

This car was spotted by 'Toto89' from RS6.com.

I would suggest reading these two threads for further info:

Thanks!

Interesting, someone in the first thread points out that the RS4 also had similar coolers, so they don't necessarily mean the RS5 will be FI.

^ Yes, that's true enough - here's that pic in more detail.

So, doesn't have to be intercooling - although I don't know if the same little radiator shown above is also on the right hand side of the RS4. Some help with this would be nice.

I remember a while back being quite adamant that there was no way the S4 would be supercharged and that if it was I'd eat my socks. [Socks didn't taste too good btw...]

So now, months down the line and I'm left thinking that if Audi went to such technical lengths to introduce supercharging - and then prove the benefits thereof - then surely this investment ought to culminate in some form of cross-application. So, once again my logical mind says: RS4 and 5 = V8 FSI plus supercharger nestled in the Vee as per the proven concept. Why the hell wouldn't it be..?

Then again, my logic and Audi's have proven to be on separate planes...

I've been looking around to no avail for pics on the RS4 with its front bumper removed. Best I could find is this pic of a B7 S4 which clearly shows a similar radiator on the right side of the car:

So, it's unlikely that the radiators shown on the supposed RS5 are intercoolers - I still don't know what they are, I speculate that one is an oil cooler and the other a transmission oil cooler. Somebody please clarify! This still doesn't give us any inkling as to whether the RS5 will be FI or NA as yet.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
