A5/S5/RS5 Audi RS5 Thread (Spy pics & info)

The Audi A5 is a series of compact executive and grand touring coupé cars produced by Audi. Production: 2007-
The people who say Japanese cars (or car from any other country) lack passion are biased pieces of sh!ts. To say that the guy building the GTR or the guys who built the NSX lacked passion versus some dude in Ferrari factory or what have you is just f__king stupid. At the end of the day they all are doing a job.

You want to find passion? Find me the dude who has worked for a company for 20 years and never got paid, now THAT is passion. Working for a paycheck is not passion, sorry to break it to you. You could be passionate about your job, i.e. you love your job, but real passion means you will do it no matter what. Take the paycheck away from anyone at those factories and they'll be pissed off and call names. :usa7uh:

Very very true!

But people can say the meaning of life is love or friendship, thats a load of sh!t!

Everything we do in life is to make money, so the people building these cars got the job for the money, not the passion.

Actually that is too simplistic.
When we say the Japanese lack passion, it means that they seem onmy to do things when they deem it reasonable, when it will bring them smtgh in return.

Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler didn't create the car to earn money, they lost mountains of money in the process.

When Erich Waxenberg took the time of fitting the big 6.3l M100 V8 in the "small" W109 middle-class car to create the stunning 300SEL 6.3, he didn't do it to earn money.

That is the kind of ,passion the Japanese lack. They don't do crazy things like, especially, mercedes does. And their sportscar are always stunningly impressive in terms of numbers, but don't come close to their European rivals in terms of emotions and feelings (noise, vibrations, design, driving involvement).

it is in that that the japanese get their reputation of "lacking passion". They are often too reasonable. Even the GTR can be seen as a relatively "reasonable" sportscar... Only Honda is bit crazier than the others (high-revving, Wankel, NS-X).

This is a RS5 lightweight-concept - reffering to the ancient-Quattro and S1! It was planned for the 10 years of Quattro anniversary (!!according to AutoBild!!) They wanted to launch it this year on IAA, but rejected these plans…

So maybe this will never be build, or maybe in two to five years…

My dealer called today as he has gotten a memo from Audi regarding the RS5 and must spec a demo car.

Launch is April 2010, 450bhp V8.

^^
2010 is the year the A5 will be facelifted, so the RS5 should likely look fresh then.
:)

I find it odd that your dealer is specing a demo car for the RS5 well before it's even been presented, let alone 9 months before customers get their hands on one.

That's what he said. Apparently all UK dealers got the same letter.

If my memory serves me well the 8N TT had a facelift. I think they changed the grille (3 horizontal bars instead of the old 5), added titanium inserts inside the headlights and lowered the suspension.

Audis (like products from its fellow German competitors) usually get facelifted halfway through their lifecycle (broadly after 3-4 years). So 8J TT will probably receive its facelift soon.

Just me or have the reduced the size of the wing mirrors??

I think they have! And here's some different pics of a different mule, looks even better:

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
