Audi Recalls 36,000 A8 Sedans to Replace Driver's Side Air Bag

Sept. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Audi AG, Volkswagen AG's luxury brand, is recalling 36,000 A8 sedans worldwide to replace the air bag on the driver's side for an inflation fault.

Audi built the cars being between October 2002 and March 2004, Jochen Grueten, an Audi spokesman, said in a telephone interview today from the carmaker's Ingolstadt, Germany, headquarters. The replacement takes about 30 minutes.

Audi's internal tests show that the air bags may not always fully inflate, Grueten said. ``We have had no reports of injuries or accidents'' as a result of the defect, he said.

What they need to do is to iron those Air bags and make sure that they fully inflate.

I think this particular recall is forgivable ...but it is inconvenient ...especially when VAG are also currently recalling Bentleys.

Agreed. These sorts of things happen all the time with all car makes, it all comes down to the simple fact that nothing is ever garaunteed. Unfortunately that also means that we don't always know or see things till they happen to know that there is indeed a problem.
