Does it mean they backed away from the idea of an X7/GLS competitor?

Fugly proportions. That front overhang is just as bad as the Bentayga.

At least the SQ9 keeps a V8 though... disappointing that the RS 6 is going to be a TTV6 PHEV, yet the SQ7 and SQ9 get to keep the V8.

I have a strong feeling if the management changes had taken place a year earlier at Audi they would've intervened in the development of the RS 6 to keep the V8 but it was too late into development when the management shuffles happened in 2023.

This new Audi A6 will get just V6? Around 700hp from V6?

Yes, the A5 and A6 have a lot of development synergy this time around to save costs, so much of the chassis structures are closer than ever before and is the reason why A5 production moved to Neckarsulm alongside the A6.

That's why it'll be sharing the same V6 as the RS 5, but it will have more power through it's hybridized component ~725 total combined output.

Since they have essentially the same front end structurally I don't believe a V8 can fit under the RS6's hood without significant redesigning.

Nah..the proportions are fine and are very similar to the X7. Who is buying the Q9 for proportions anyway?! it's a full-size luxury SUV...lol

I think the Q9 has an ungainly front overhang. However it masks it marginally better than the upcoming Q7 due to it's sheer length. But neither are good

guys.. both the SQ7 and SQ9 are posted on this same page just scroll up

So Q7 exists and Q9 will be different, but i was asking in what way? just an Q7 with 7 seaters like the X7 is to X5 with some design changes ? Or Q9 will be different car, an different class, like Q7 is to Q5 for example

Have they decided to abandon Q9 and return to Q7 like the A6/A7?
for sure not...since both Q9 and Q7 both have odd numbers...must be something else
As far as i can tell Q7 and Q9 are different cars , probably Q9 is the 7 seater

ya Q9 will be a 7 seater competing in the full-size luxury SUV segment against X7 and GLS. Q7 is in the mid-size luxury SUV segment competing against X5 and GLE/ML.

Q7 spy shots look as if the Q7 has finally been positioned to be more mid-size then ever before to better fend off X5 sales, instead of operating in this in-between space like in the past.

Correct. The difference is that the Q7 can’t comfortably accommodate 7 adults but the Q7 will be able too. Full sized suvs are important for US and Middle Eastern markets. Isn’t there rumours that Porsche will release a large suv that will be positioned above the q9?

Presumably the electric (new SSP+ electric architecture) crossover currently codenamed "K1" due for official presentation for MY 2028 or 2029. "Insiders" describe the vehicle displayed at closed door design clinics as a "sort of mixture between rakish shooting brake and SUV". Well over 5 meters in length with the capacity to seat seven occupants. Porsche may be cooperating with Rivian regarding further development of the electric architecture and/or Scout regarding REEV options.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
