Production model slated for 2013 launch

New details are starting to emerge about the Audi Q2 concept, ahead of a possible unveiling at the Paris Motor Show.
What Car? is reporting the model will be based on the A1 and essentially become a twin of the Volkswagen Cross Polo.
Unsurprisingly, the crossover's styling will be influenced by the A1 and Q3. It is slated to feature offroad-inspired bumpers, an increased ride height and plastic body cladding.
When the production model is launched in 2013, it will reportedly be offered with a variety of engines including a 1.4- and 1.6-liter petrol as well as a 1.6-liter diesel. Front wheel drive will be standard, but all-wheel drive should be optional.

So basically an overpriced Fiat Panda. No wonder Audi's dealership here by Green Park in London has been rebuilt to only have two cars on the floor with the rest of the lineup only available through digital channels.

Audi planning another Q model.

From the beginning we should mention that this might not be a real photo of the Audi Q2 Crosslane Coupe, but we know for a fact that a concept version of the Q2 with this moniker will be showcased in Paris this week.
This is a two-door SUV with a 2+2 interior layout, and if there will be a production version based on this concept it will most likely have five doors and a normal interior cabin. This car is based on the MQB platform developed by the VW Group and used already on the new Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf VII and the Seat Ibiza. It is 4250mm long, 150mm high and it's 1,900mm wide, with a 2500mm wheelbase.
It is powered by an electric motor that produces 116 hp (86 kW) that draws its power from a battery of a yet unknown capacity, while a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter with 132 hp (98 kW) works only as a generator so it doesn’t drive the wheels. Range is expected to be around 80 miles (128 km).
We’ll have full details very soon.

X2 is not going to come that soon. It might only come after the next generation X1, that will be built upon the 1 Series GranTourer's FWD platform. I doubt the X2 will be "RWD" and be built upon the current F2X platform.

2016 Audi Q2 continues teasing game

Audi has released two teaser images of the Q2 crossover slated to appear early next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

An official reveal is just around the corner, so Audi is trying to create a buzz by dropping new teasers. Compared to the last one which was pretty much pointless, the two adjacent pics are somewhat revealing as the illustrations show the vehicle’s shape. The baby crossover from Ingolstadt has been in development over the last four years and will be called “Q2” after Audi settled a dispute with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles regarding the use of this moniker.

Audi commenced pre-production of its smallest crossover back in October last year and these cars are currently conducting final testing to make sure everything is ready for the official market launch. The Audi Q2 is programmed to go on sale this fall and the first 5,000 units are heading to dealers.

It will ride on the versatile MQB platform shared with the A3 and is going to come with a variety of three- and four-cylinder engines, all turbocharged. A plug-in hybrid derivative is expected to join the range later in the model’s life cycle and there are also rumors concerning a diesel-powered SQ2 and even a 300-hp RS Q2. As standard, the Q2 will have a front-wheel drive arrangement, but at an additional cost buyers will be able to opt for a quattro setup with the four-cylinder motors.

Audi could decide to reveal the Q2 online in the following days, prior to a public debut on March 1 in Geneva.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
