I need some help - badly.

Audi.de has a really nice job offering in their marketing department which I am dying to get. I 99% fit the profile they're looking for and what the expect of me is also what I know I can offer.

However, they require a "motivation letter" about why I want to work for Audi. I have to be honest, I know almost nothing about Audi since I am a Mercedes guy as most of you may know. In order to impress them a bit, I want to mention some of the things Audi is known for in my motivational covering letter.

My question is, "What is Audi known for (past and present)?".

I can think of the following:

-Quattro
-Aluminum spaceframe construction
-Best interior in class (often)
-Diesel direct-injection engines (1980s)

What else?

I looked at the German Wikipedia article on Audi but they basically mentioned only some of the things I knew already.

Thanks for the help, guys. :usa7uh:

Hey, if I get a job there, my dream of working in the car industry will have come true!

I'd mention something about the growth, both economically and physically, they've obtained over the last 10-15 years as well as their ascent into the premium market, Their design, Vorpsrung Durch Technik, and of course Le Mans victories, just to name a few.

Vorsprung durch Technik...
Such as S-Tronic (did you know that the old Rally quattro cars had dual-clutch?)
TT The Icon (Good Design)
FSI / TFSI Engines
40% (front) 60% (rear) Split quattro
The Led-lights
DRC - Dynamic ride control...
The Aluminium part is very important (I think)

Pure Intelligence
Audi's MMI System (easy and good)

Last: The Le Mans - They are big in the Racing (just as the Rally before)

What I would also bring forward is their amazing success in the 80's rally championchips, being the first 4wd car there and they won pretty much everything. Also an important point is 1932: The four Saxon motor-vehicle brands -- Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer -- merge, forming Auto Union AG, based in Chemnitz.
More over, you have to know what Audi have achieved the last 10 years, being a normal german car, to exlusive cars competing with BMW and MB today.

Here are some pages for you:

More then that, I think the guys above mentioned it.
Good luck!

How about, in a more recent sense, their amazing interiors? When you are hearing about the best interiors in major production cars, it's all about Audi and Lexus

Thanks for the input, guys. Feel free to post anything that comes to mind. I'm copying and pasting this into a world file so I can print it out in the future and use to write my covering letter. :)

your dream of working in the car industry will have come true?
How is that, since you have never worked for BMW? :D

My contribution:
I guess it would be great to include in your letter something about the current Audi success, which includes great sales numbers in germany and in europe in general, but also some facts about the new RS4 and that amazing new diesel engine that was put in the Q7

They're known for numb handling, overly simplistic styling, front wheel drive like all wheel drive, copying BMW, and charging like Mercedes. :D dont say that! But if you get fired or they dont hire you can something like that.

Audi has a great racing heritage, a superb line of automobiles, and their fit and finish is impeccable....:t-cheers:
Or you say something like all and all Audi is about delivering the best product possible to the customer and has always been about that, then you list off Audi qualitites.

Actually, I am also checking out BMW but I know more about them. If I need help there, I'll open a thread and beg you guys for info, ok? :D

They'll put me in jail if I say that. :D

They do have a great racing heritage in the rally department I believe. :usa7uh:

I guess you could also comment on the success the Auto Union racecars (specifically the Type C and Type D) had back in the pre-WWII Grand Prix Racing days, how they were the first ones who experimented with mid-engined racing cars, their contribution, along with Mercedes-Benz, to the "Silver Arrows" era and also the fostering of great names such as Rosemeyer and Nuvolari.

I could mention that in relation to their recent successes in Le Mans. "History repeating itself" sorta thing. :usa7uh:

so when you write this letter, will you post it in this thread? Just out of curiocity :D

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
