Audi E-Tron Detroit Concept revealed

Make it X4 for Quattro:D j/k I'm not a VAG boy.

But Audi do have impressive talent in their design department. All the recent concepts they have been presented, are nothing but gorgeous. It's a shame that their production reincarnations are so watered down.

Like Mo previously pointed out, there is a bit of Estoque in there. The aggressively sculptured rear arch is Schexy.

This car will replace the TT in Audi's future lineup. With the arrival of the A5 coupe, Audi will delete the TT as a FWD/AWD 2+2 which effectively is replaced by the A5. In its place comes the R4 as a mid-engined 2-seater.

looks sweet but im confused about all this R4 talk. Will this be quattro as well and what is it supposed to compete with? Wil this be above the TT/ A5?

WOW

Simply stunning inside and out. Audi design is alive, after the A8 reveal I was beginning to think they may be on snooze.

It would definitely make sense for this 'R4' to be the replacement for the current TT, bringing the model's naming convention in line with the rest of the Audi product portfolio. It would also make sense for the 'R4' to be a strict two seater as oppose to the current 2+2 to bring it inline with its primary competitors the Z4 and SLK.

If Audi elect to make this 'mid-engined' and the dynamics that go with that set up in the gasoline powered versions (which is reasonable assumption given the concepts motors are placed on the rear), then we may have a very serious drivers car to look forward to in the not to distant future.

cool car..looks like a A5 and R8 mixed..
And has the stance like a crossfire:)

But i like it

I was wondering what this thing was going to be, R4 huh? Great looking little car. Proportions are perfect as is the interior, at least the show car interior. If only the new A8 grabbed the eyes like this.

M

Well, this is definitely gonna be the R4. My only question is. How are they going to price this? Will they price this close to the RS5 or will this be below? With this, the A5 almost makes no sense to me right now. I'm a bit confused.

Loved the compact design with impeccable proportion. An "R4" would be a nice update for TT as Audi moves into electric drive. In terms of price, it must be competitive as I envision competitors are brewing something similar.

Outstanding job Audi, love the move to a smaller package. Now lets get real with a piston engine with at least 300 hp, a competitive price, and I am sold.....big time!:eusa_clap

The R4 would simply replace the TT, and become a slightly "cheaper" alternative to the Cayman. Subsequently it leaves a gap for VW to push a cheaper front-engined roadster to rival the Miata and rumored BMW Z2.

Thanks for clearing that up, but it does beg the question: why use the "R" name? R4 suggests that it's the little brother of the premium sports car, the R8, but, and thus there would be a premium price. I mean just looking at it, it looks like it will be priced quite a bit higher than the TT, hell it looks like it might be priced higher than even the S5. But, if they can price this around TT, then Audi have one hot motha F__king car on their hand.

A5 and this "R4" are in completly different class. A5 is luxury coupe for 4 people, while this "R4" is sportier and for 2 people only.

This car looks awesome,it should replace TT . I only hope it will be a little bigger, under 4 m is too small.

I understand the class difference...I'm just talking about pricing of the cars. ;)

You're forgetting that the next A3 cars will have a coupe version which will more or less occupy the TT's price spot and allow the R4 to be priced higher which is only natural because it's a mid engined construction.

Lets hope it wont increase too much...:usa7uh: I guess price will be similar to E89 Z4...

When can we expect R4 ? 2011 , 2012 ?

good question.
First we have to see some special models of the TT like the clubsport
because it's the end of a big era. Remember TT was one of them
biggest happenings in the 90's. and that's a fact.

I'd say 2012
and that feels like 100 years away :D
