Audi Commercials are starting to annoy me....

I respect Audi in many ways, although they don't usually really speak to me on a personal level, compared to the obvious rivals at least.

However, their little "pot-shot" commercials are getting really desperate.

If they wanna call out M-B and BMW, then fine, they gotta do what they gotta do to win the market over the big 2, and that's obviously their approach.

But to use OLD BODYSTYLE examples, when you drive by, and do a side by side comparo's, to your spankin' new body Audi's? Sure, I wouldn't want to put a new Audi next to a new Benz or BMW if I was Audi either (:D), but damn....

A recent commercial I saw had a freakin' W203, and I could have sworn, an E46.... ***??? These cars have been off the market for like 4+ years.

I DID see one (I think it was Audi, maybe it was another car make) who used a W204, with the LUXURY Package (which looks very awkward and wrong on the W204 for some reason), which in the U.S, if as rare a sighting as a Lamborghini.

:eusa_thin

Not to mention, a commercial from a year or so ago, using a W220 S-Class.

I saw that same commercial last night and couldn't understand what was going. I thought I may have missed something and they were talking about pre-owned cars but when I saw the brand new A4 with the optional LEDs come around the corners, I was like huh?

It's the usual inferiority complex... displayed a thousand times before.

Haha,Audi has made commercials that have actually made me laugh, from the God Father themed R8 commercial,to the Jason Statham one, truely classics. Most companies try to come across as serious, but most their commercials are mundane.I wish more of their advertising be more would be more witty.Lexus has some pretty cool commercials as well. What's wrong with having a sense of humor?

I have noticed that aswell although I have not tried but I think i should make the suggestion to drive an A4 against the E46 and see how they compare today?
Remember E46 like the E90 saw off all of it's competitors pretty rapidly. As soon as the new rival came to the market - The E46 shot it down.
I would like to think against an E46 the Audi's shortcomings would be exposed by a car that has been dead for over five years?

As for marketing BMW AG as a rule does not feature competitors car because there is no equal , a lot of BMW distribution networks invoke this rivalry between manufacturers. I feel that invokes a feeling of desperation and detracts from the product involved.

BMW are in the running for automobile marketing awards in October. With the "JOY" brand campaign. BMW 5er "Exporation of Beauty" , BMW Active Hybrid 7 and BMW X1 "Joy is what you make of it?"

Audi are nominated for the A1 "Next Big Thing" Which tried to imitate the BMW film series "The Hire" with bad acting and complicated storyline, which at the end made no sense.
People in the industry I have talked to about the "Next Big Thing" has more critics than praises which probably come from JT fans not auto fans?

Audi do make some wonderful ads, though maybe not for the American market.

All of which don't mention rivals and are all the better for it. Only one advert mentioning it's main rivals that in my opinion isn't silly is this one.

A classic. :D

LOL @ some of the responses.

Yeah, it's really *low* of them to do that. And it seems as though, they are, in fact, considering their cars as competitors with previous models from M-B and BMW, lol.

Maybe it is the U.S Market only though. We do tend to get the dumbed down versions of everything.
