2003 Audi A8 proclaimed as Which's safest car

WHICH MAGAZINE rates the 2003 Audi A8 as the safest car tested since it started testing cars in 1983.

"Modern cars measure-up well against their ancestors, but there's no room for complacency where safety us concerned," said editor, Neil Fowler. "We are still finding basic safety problems with many new models and we'll continue to lobby car manufacturers for improvement."

This is interesting. Where does BMW and Mercedes-Benz rate on this test ....they always make a much bigger issue about safety than Audi :t-hands:

Did they even test BMWs or Mercs? i'd imagine that they wouldn't be able to test all types makes and models on the market; only a sample.

A magazine that dosent put the S-class and the 7 series in their top ten safety list is foolish.

BTW what outstanding safety features does the A8 have?

I'm not shocked that the A8 is on top, but I'm certainly surprised Mercedes wasn't in the top 10!:jpshakehe

ermmm.i dont think thats entirely true...for as long as if known audi has always been a safe and solid car,

Oh sure ...it certainly is, I am not disputing that.

My point was simply that Mercedes and BMW (BMW perhaps to a lesser extent) for a long time now, have promoted their cars with safety being a major selling point.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
