Hi guys, since i wrote in another tread, about mufflers, i started to look at them.

I'm weird, or the 2014/2015 audi A4 3.0 tdi received a dual side muffler instead of a single one on each side?
I also noted that the new A4 2.0 tdi has only one.

I was upset when i saw what the bmw did with the f30, with the small single exhaust (i prefer the e90's single exhaust) but with the facelifted version they re-introduced the dual exhaust also on the 320d.

In Europe there have been 2 versions of the A4 3.0 tdi: the 'Clean Diesel' (this name sounds quite ironic now...) with dual-exhaust on one side and the "normal" version with one exhaust on each side. Both versions are quattro and have the same engine output.

Correction: they have the same power output (240 PS), but different torque: Clean Diesel has 580 nm, normal one 500 nm

So, the "clean" diesel it's better for the environment and better under the right foot when you floor the pedal!
I was interested in this thing, because i always liked the single exhaust on each side.. Since the 2.5tdi of the A6 C5!
Now it's more difficult to spot a 3.0tdi

Thanks a lot dali for the explanation!

Welcome! I didn't know this exhaust-stuff until my brother bought a A4 3.0 Clean Diesel last year. When he showed up in it, I told him he was cheating badly and that every idiot could spot his 2.0 from the dual exhaust... ;-)

The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
