Just so you know :)

Aston Martin DB9s with automatic transmission are subject to recall due to possible malfunction of the cars’ parking interlock system. Wot? That’s the thing that engages when a car is in park that prevents it from wandering off into someone’s clean laundry. A scant 67 vehicles are affected, but we’d imagine all it would take to ruin someone’s day is a $175,000 sports car in their pantry.

Make / Models : ASTON / DB9
Model/Build Years: 2006
Manufacturer : Aston Martin
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 05V513000
Mfg’s Report Date : NOV 07, 2005
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 67

Summary:ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, WHEN A LOAD IS APPLIED ON THE PARKING INTERLOCK SYSTEM, THE LOCKING CONE, WHICH IS PART OF THE PARKING PAWL SYSTEM, MAY CREATE AN INDENTATION ON AN UNHARDENED GUIDE PLATE AT THE CONE CONTACT AREA. AN INDENTATION MAY ALSO RESULT IN A RAISED EDGE TOWARDS THE LOCKING CONE GUIDE CHANNEL WHICH MAY HINDER THE LOCKING CONE FROM REACHING ITS END POSITION.

Consequence: THE PARK MAY NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE “P” BUTTON IN THE VEHICLE IS PRESSED TO SELECT PARK AND ALL INDICATORS SHOW THE PARK POSITION IS ACHIEVED. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ROLL-AWAY CONDITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PARKING PAWL GLIDE PLATE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 14, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT ASTON MARTIN AT 201-818-8328.

So? It's still the most beautiful car on the planet, even with that small issue. :D

:t-cheers:

Damn Ford. Such a recall shouldn't happen to a beautiful machine such as the DB9. BTW have manufacturers like Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini made any recall the past years?
