Sorry for the personal stuff, but yesterday happened some sh*t with my car :(
I bought my van almost new, and now I have to change the EGR valve of my VW T6 after 32.000 miles.
Does anyone here who also drives a van had similar problems with the EGR?
Or is it just a VW thing :/
This is my first van, but I think it's a pretty great car and I want to keep driving it for a long time. Besides, I need it for work :D
It would be really nice if someone could tell me, if I have to expect such problems regularly :)

Is the EGR actually faulty, or have you looked at having it cleaned out?

Do you do lots of short trips, or mainly long trips?

Hi,
thanks for your response.
The mechanic said that the EGR is faulty and that I need a new one.
I do lots of short trips as I have to be at many locations every day for my work, but I really try to drive carefully.

Carbon builds up in the EGR valve and affects its performance, short trips and cold starts will make this happen more quickly. Some places offer to clean them, perhaps you could look into that.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I'll take a look at that.:)

The EGR has a mechanical and an electrical part. Mechanical faults are hard to diagnoze through the error codes but the electrical are easy. T6 usually has problems with the EGR, the MAF sensor and the turbo. But anyway these problems should not occur before 125 000 miles. The engine easily covers 300 000 miles before an overwhole is needed. I would worry more about the transmission if it is a DSG.
