Bang & Olufsen Aligns With Aston Martin for Creative Partnership

STRUER, Denmark, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Bang & Olufsen, the Danish
provider of high end audio and video products, and Aston Martin, the leader
in producing exclusive high-performance automobiles, proudly unveil a
creative and strategic partnership that will revolutionize the luxury
automotive sector. Together, the brands present a union of two innovative
companies with a proud tradition in technology and design. Both Bang &
Olufsen and Aston Martin blend an unrelenting quest for technical
excellence with an uncompromising commitment to quality and style, and have the courage to go far beyond the conventional.

Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin's Chief Executive Officer, describes the
new association between the companies as a landmark collaboration of two
market leaders. "Without technological innovation, neither Aston Martin nor
Bang & Olufsen would have achieved the reputation they have today as
leaders in both design and performance," he says. "Elegance and excellence
go hand in hand, and designers, engineers and specialists in both companies
will work closely together to achieve a benchmark result."

Bang & Olufsen's Chief Executive Officer Torben Ballegard Sorensen also
believes the two companies have much in common, and not just in terms of
esteem and ambition. "There are deep similarities between our cultures and
heritages," he says. "Bang & Olufsen's values are rooted in passion and
performance as well as design and craftsmanship, and these exact values are experienced in an Aston Martin."

Renowned for much more than unparalleled performance on road and track,
an Aston Martin combines refinement with exhilaration, a key component of
which is the sound of the engine -- as finely tuned as a musical
instrument. Along these same lines, Bang & Olufsen is known all over the
world for producing state-of-the-art audio and video products of the
highest quality materials with the utmost in sound and picture performance,
as well as a magical experience with each use.

Both companies appreciate the value of individuality, and at Bang &
Olufsen there is a very real human element to every stage of the design and manufacturing processes, from the integral role played by the classically trained tonmeister, to the hand finishing of the products. Aston Martin takes the same approach, as each engine bears the signature of the engineer who signed off on it.

^^Interesting.

I wonder, will this have any effect on B&O's work with Audi?

All B&O does is take a product and improve on it, in an incredible way. Thats all they do... They are just excellent and detailed at what they do, technologically. It would be great to see what they do with AM since it is already such a detailed and advanced manufacturer.

Bang O, is known to improve on what is already known to be the best, and still take it to another more advanced level...

Not entirely :D. Their designs are amazing but performance wise B&O products are quite over priced.

Not Entirely??? There was never a discussion on price here my brother!!!

They are priced through the roof, but what do you mean "performance wise B&O products are quite over priced".

Their quality is outstanding....

Artist isnt your phone B&O? Care to chime in?

Well they sure make the products look better ....but as far a sound quality goes, B&O is not the absolute best ....but certainly very good.

Also, B&O is expensive ....but top-of-the-line equipment can cost into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I mean that if it's sound reproduction or image quality that's most important to you, there are better and cheaper choices than B&O products. But buying a B&O stereo is like buying an Apple desktop, you mostly buy it because of the ease of use, material quality and design.

^^That is very true Lu, B&O really have built their whole place in the market around the appearence of the products.

Now i'm confused, Rob...

^^Actually, I am sorry, I am very wrong what I said. I should check my facts before I post.

Actually Philips doesn't have a stake in the company anymore ;):D:

By selling a 25% stake to Dutch electronics giant Philips in 1993 (which it bought back two years later), the company could invest in a network of specialist boutiques with knowledgeable staff – the antithesis of consumer electronics.

Here are the biggest shareholders according to their annual report 2006-2007 (Nominal amount DKK 1,000 / Capital % / Votes %):

Lønmodtagernes Dyrtidsfond, Vendersgade 28, 1, 1363 Copenhagen K (2,632/2.18/12.05)
Nordea Companies Danmark A/S, Torvegade 2, 1786 Copenhagen V (2,000/1.66/9.15)
ATP, Kongens Vænge 8, 3400 Hillerød (13,158/10.89/6.02)
Kirsten og Peter Bang a/s, c/o Lars Peter Bang, Duevej 1, 7600 Struer (1,154/0.96/5.28)
Bang & Olufsen a/s, Peter Bangs Vej 15, 7600 Struer (6,199/5.13/2.84)

Yeah B&O once belonged to Philips and sold redesigned Philips products, but it is no more the case.

B&O make beautiful products, but concerning the sound they are very far from beeing the best. You can have much better for much cheaper. However the design is unique, if you want a fabulous looking stereo you are at the good place at B&O, if you want a fabulous sounding stereo you won't be happy with B&O.

However, I did not hear it in a car.

And B&O is always better than Bose, which are bad-sounding like a supermarket product, not very good looking but very expensive. Bose is however a technological leader, they developped the 2.1 and 5.1 concept (little speakers and subwoofer instead of everything in one box), the 5.1 with 2.1 speaker...They open the way, but then other companies take the concept and make it sound much better for less money...

None of them are puritic audio products. Bose once was, but they moved to the Home-Cinema market and lost a lot of the sound quality it once had.

Here is a good example of B&O product not worth it's price tag. €800 for a freaking 4GB Mp3 player.

BTW I don't like Bose either. If I ever want to buy high quality HiFi products I'd buy something from NAD, Dali, B&W or Denon.

^^Yes. B&O are very seductively designed ...but there are better manufacturers.

Some guys who are really serious about their Audio visual equipment like to build their own systems from top-of-the-line components, but for most of us, we are happy to settle for the products made for the consumer market.

These are some really top manufacturers:
I think Meridian is a fantastic company ....so is Linn and Naim. I heard the Swiss company Revox is really good too.
The Japanese companies Denon and Nakamichi are highly regarded too.

But check this one out: Steinway Lyngdorf ...very nice
